Interesting that your SNR didn't deteriorate that much but it's now at 8 which is borderline for stability issues-- you might suffer a few more disconnects than usual.

Means that there is an easy to read thread that you can compare your stats with. People are afraid of reading the original thread cause it is so big.

One thread for stats and one for discussion makes no sense.

My understanding is that this thread is for upgrades and discussions of the upgrades, minus the if, how and will questions that are destined for the other thread.

for historical reasons I have two connections one from BT and the other from Irish Broadband.

The BT dsl connection has been upgraded but the the IBB dsl connection has not.

Have done the usual reset on modems etc even tried netgear and zyexl modems.

Anyone any ideas

from my prev post in the other thread noise margin has dropped from 19dB, pings increased from 20ms

Modem: Dunno, about 12 months old, Linksys WRT55AG router.

My connection speed is varying wildly and I think I also have some problems with usenet transfers. I can get up to 1.3MB/s download through Internet Explorer, but even at those times I have problems with usenet.

I've tried using port 80 instead of the default 119 but either way it drops down to a best average of about 400KB/s and is now dropping below 100KB/s most of the time. Could their be a problem with my setup or are UPC throttling those ports? At times it runs at up to 800KB/s so it seems my setup is capable of letting data through at that speed. Really appreciate any help as this is wrecking my head.

Couldn't care less about the low ping as I'm not a gamer and don't use any VOIP apps. Well not yet anyway.

In a real world application, up to yesterday I was regularly getting download speeds of approx 300 - 310kbs when downloading stuff from the Easynews web front end using Free Download Manager. Today I've been getting approx 750 - 770kbs so I'm very happy.
