Maybe I should post this in consumer affairs but anyhoo..I bought the Top Gear Live Brown thomas limited edition tickets. At the time I was happy for any ticket so didnt mind listening to all the Brown thomas comercial BS. Anyway today my vouchers for brown thomas arrived. Included in my 2 tickets are 2 50 euro brown thomas vouchers. Sounds good but get this, the vouchers can only be used in the menswear department of BT, and only for purchases of €250 or more.

Is it just me or is that very restrictive? I have not been to the show yet and already there is a bad taste in my mouth about it. On the one hand I want to get my 50 euro's worth but on the other thats obviously what they want. What should I do?

Not sure if anyone posted this but brown thomas now have a ferrari 599, audi r8, porsche 356 and a ford gt from sport and classic in their store now. They've changed the menswear department again and it seems to have halfed inside and turned into a gigantic mirror! Brought someone in to get an idea of Christmas presents with these vouchers but the store look was awful it was hard to shop! And i'm a woman!

It was widely known about the restrictions on the vouchers - it wasn't hidden or omitted from the ticket website or anything.

    Hey Skylops,
when the shows are on you'll probably double your money
on the tickets outside ! Theres a huge demand for them.
    Forget BT.

Oh I still want to go, its just a bit annoying. And where was the restrictions on the vouchers shown? To be honest I would probably be complaining less, if I didnt get any voucher. Its just annoying.

I saw mention on the website about the €250 minimum spend but I didn't see anything to say that you could only use the vouchers in the menswear dept.

I was just suprised by the missus earlier today with two BT tickets so am bringing a mate who asked a good question:

What exactly does a BT ticket get you at the show. I can't find any info on them on the topgearlive.ie site

Anyone here care to enlighten me please :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,326 ✭✭✭ciarsd

I believe it gives you access to the 'Paddock' whatever that may be (some say a mobile Sports & Classic showroom), premium seating, and a voucher for BT menswear (to be used by Nov 2nd!)

The voucher I received was only valid until Sunday gone (Nov 2nd). One of the other lads didn't even receive that yet... tickets ordered at similar times.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,131 ✭✭✭Curvy Vixen

I got my BT vouchers about 3 weeks ago...they were only valid until Nov 1st so maybe you weren't in the top 50 or whatever it was that was to get them?

There was also a letter in with them to say that the tickets would be issued seperately nearer the time for security reasons..haven't got these yet.

I got my Brown Thomas ticket in the door today. I was expecting some voucher for BT as was suggested when I bought the tickets but I found a Paddock Tour wristband instead. So I phoned the hotline to see what the crack was and the girl said that only the first 2000 people got BT vouchers and the rest of the people (who bought €100 tickets) got the backstage wristbands etc... She went to to explain that they can be used all day from opening on the day of your ticket. In my case that means I can go in at 10am on Sunday November 30th and knock around "backstage" all day until my show at 5:00pm. She said that Hamster will probably be there too and I may get to meet him (not sure why him in particular but it suits me as I want to get my copy of his book signed and shake his hand)...

I know theres a lot of speculation about what tickets entitle you to what stuff but I just thought I would post this as it's up to date as of today. Whether it's accurate is another thing, but I'd like to be optimistic!

Well everybody who bought the BT tickets were supposed the get the backstage wristbands anyway so it certainly should not be considered a consolation prize for not getting the BT voucher. The BT voucher was just a ploy to lure people into buying a ticket.

for anyone who bought a BT ticket and didn't get a voucher and wants to get their cash difference back submit a complaint online at http://www.consumerconnect.ie/eng/Working_With_You/Submit_a_Consumer_Complaint/ as Ticketmaster do not seem to be willing to refund the difference (going by contact with them today)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,058 ✭✭✭Ronan H

By the way, I forgot to mention above that the girl on the phone said that you had to spend either €250 or €300 in BT before you could use the voucher that was supposed to be with the ticket... I never saw that written anywhere either when I purchased the ticket originally...

 Sorry I think I have confused myself now. Are we saying that people who paid €100 for a BT ticket and only got a wristband should not have paid that much? If so, what should it have cost?

I just want to get my story straight if I'm going to pursue it through Consumer Connect...

    Thanks.

Got my tickets today! Bit ironic that the Top Gear show is a no parking event as the info with the tickets is that no parking facilities are available at the RDS.
Doesn't bother me too much but I know a good few lads travelling up from the country for this and they will have to rethink their plans.

Just after looking at my tickets and cant believe it is a "no parking event"! tis a joke. The carpark at simmonscourt is huge- if they are gonna use all that space it must be some show!

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 8,486 ✭✭✭miju

it actually says it on the tickets. the reason it's a no parking event is because there will apparently be sports events on at the same time.

so the people watching the match will be able to park at simmonscourt? will just say im going to the match so!!;)
in fairness though, it is alittle ironic for a car show to be a no car parking event! and there are lots of people who dont live in dublin going to this. think i may get the dart:eek:
