I dunno which is more surprising, the fact Molumphy is playing or the fact he's playing in corner forward!

A bit disappointed Martin O'Neill isn't starting ahead of Tomas Connors, I would've thought his performances in the WC Cup would've been enough to earn him a place in the startin XV.

id say hel probably swap with baby shan and come out around the 40 hed get through great work there.

Im also disappointed about nailer but what a sub to bring on hes nearly got a goal in every game this year so far. He had 1-2 off ollie canning after 6 mins against portumna:eek:

I would have a lot more confidence in hurlers than our footballers at the moment tbh

Why's that? Dublin hurling has improved massively over the last 5 years but they're still a fair bit off the level of the likes of Kilkenny, Tipperary, Waterford, Cork and Galway imo. Hopefully Dublin can break into that top tier in the next 5 years but they're definitely not there yet.

Footballers, on the other hand, have won the last 5 Leinsters in a row and although they're still behind the likes of Kerry, Tyrone and probably Cork, they are in the top tier of counties. 2 from 2 in the national league aswell means I'd still have more confidence in our footballers than hurlers.

From an outsider I see the Dublin hurlers on an upward curve, and the footballers the opposite. Let's face it there has been little or no competition in Leinster football the last number of years. Too much hype surrounding the footballers and they as as far off Kerry as the hurlers are off Kilkenny.

Well as has been argued Leinster football is non competitive at the moment. Hurlers have been knocking on the door a long time. Have turned in two excellent leagues and have been competitive in last two All Ireland series.

Try Craobh Ciarans Club house at the back of Parnell Park there a hurling club too. Heading to waterford for this game but obviusly posters on this site predicting a dublin win havent seen them play recently. I saw them play galway last sunday in the walsh cup and they were poor and galway won with plenty to spare. Yes dublin were missing a few but dublin were so far off the pace. I think waterford will have a bit to spare over the dubs on sunday.

Waterford against UCC in the Crystal Cup were almost as poor as the day they pl;ayed Limerick in the drawn game last year.

Why in the name of God isn't Kearney playing? Surely better than Murray. Power should be playing too, we all know what Clinton can do

Where in Dublin are Faughs & O´Tooles GAA clubs based?

good to see Mark O´Brien (Tallow) is recovered from his injury ... we might well be a future regular at corner back or even fullback.

You´ll be grand in the Vincents or Ciarans clubhouses with your jersey on,

Faughs are in Templeogue, just up from the Spawell roundabout, right beside Judes are are a hurling only club. O'Tooles play in Ayrfield on the Malahide Road, mainly a hurling club, and also involved in the Eamonn Fennel scandal.

I wouldn't put the hurlers ahead of the footballers just yet. In my opinion the footballers are 4th behind Kerry, Cork, Tyrone, but have the ability to beat these teams on any given day.

Possibly controversially, I'd put the hurlers 5th in the country, behind Kilkenny, Tipperary, Galway and Waterford, but the chances of them beating any of the above in a big game would be slimmer. They're definitely ahead of Wexford, Clare and Offaly. Limerick will take a while to rebuild from the current crisis and Cork seem to have stagnated, they don't have the underage talent at the moment and are relying on the old guard.

No offence Gingy, but I seriously doubt you'll be dwindling under that Dublin>>>Cork delusion come the end of the season. ;)

Until Dublin beat the bigger teams in championship games they can't really say they are ahead of them IMO

I'd put the current state of the teams at:

    KK
    Tipp
    Galway
    Waterford
    Cork
    Wexford
    Dublin
    Offaly
    Clare
    antrim
    Calrlow
    Westmeath
    ...
    ...
    Leitrim
    Sligo
    Tyrone
    Armagh
    Limerick

    This is clearly wrong.

Armagh should be ahead of Tyrone, Sligo and Leitrim

    I'd go:

    KK
    Tipp
    Galway
    Cork/Waterford
    Dublin/Clare
    Offaly/Wexford
    Laois
    Westmeath/Kildare/Antrim/Carlow
    Limerick

    And after that I don't give a ****.

I don't know why everyone rates Galway so highly. Who of note have they beat in the last three years in the chapionship to deserve such acclaim?

    Cork for starters.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,460 ✭✭✭Orizio

They are one of only two teams in the country capable of beating KK imo.

I said of note:D Cork last year were pitifully bad, any Cork man would tell you that.

    OK, Fair point, well made...

I do feel they improved a lot last year and expect to see them hurling well into August this year...

Well we'll just have to wait and see. Last season Cork got knocked out in the first round of Munster and round 2 of the qualifiers. Dublin got to a provincial final and an All-Ireland quarter final and in my opinion they are justifiably ranked above Cork on the ranking order.

We got knocked out by Tipperary and Galway after a non-existent pre-season. Dublin got knocked out by Limerick after a full league and pre-season. ;)

We got knocked out of Leinster by All-Ireland champions Kilkenny and Limerick got further than Galway last year. And surely you can't be blaming us for not going on strike last year and actually preparing properly for the season!;););)

I'm suggesting that comparing last year's results (which still comes down on our side, because we would never have lost to a mediocre Limerick side) and suggesting Dublin are superior to Cork despite completely different preperations to the season is absurd. I can't make it any clearer then that.

So how about that big match tomorrow :) Nearly all the papers going for Dublin by a few.

It is going to a close game, going with Dublin, if they win it wil drive them on.

Well that's jut completely hypothetical, we could say we wouldn't have lost to Galway! In fairness, the preparations to the league were completely your fault down there, there were no outside circumstances and it definitely can't be used as an excuse.

I know that we have to start pulling some big punches in Championship hurling, but going on recent form and the amount of young players coming through, I would have higher hopes for Dublin than Cork for the next few years.

 I'm not going to bother explaining this again, I'd just be repeating myself. Suffice to say, by the end of the year we'll both know who was right. ;)
