Cantec in Manor Mills ripoff

Not sure if this is allowed or not...but has anyone shopped in the computer store in Manor Mills in Maynooth....if you thought PC World was expensive... OMG this place is a rip-off.
Just as an example, I bought a Belkin Wireless G USB Adaptor in PC World over the weekend for €29.99...how much in Cantec... €64.99 They really would want to revise their prices because that's a scandalous price to charge!

Remember these places are for the uninitiated, the unwashed masses who haven't a friggin' clue.

They charge what the local market will bare.

The logitech one was 50.

I've yet to buy anything in there and doubt i ever will. The staff in the cavan one arent even that knowledgable in pc related stuff either.

Once got a GeForce 4 Ti4200 for 150 euro in a shop in dublin, 250 euro in cantec and it sat there in the window for months after the gf5 series was launched to

Who exactly were you dealing with?? IL be glad to lend a hand if you want to contact me via PM.
Cantec is the largest Irish IT Retail store..Something like this dosent happen over night.. Cantec are number 1 when it comes to Microsoft, In the top 2 With Hp & In the top 3 With Fujitsu Siemens.
Its wrong to compare buying something online to buying something in a retail store... Of coarse its going to be cheaper on line.
Also, in the case of the Belkin wireless adapter, something is seriously wrong there, it will have to be looked at and amended, its a big difference.
There are a lot of items that Cantec are cheaper on aswell, lets not look at all the negitave things here,
People shop in Cantec for a local service, to get good customer service & staff that can speak english... sadly Or Thankfully as you may look at it, Cantecs competitors do not offer this.
This is not a slate or Praise Cantec Band Wagon, so please dont jump on it.
Cantec are an Irish company that we should be proud off, you will always get a couple of smartasses on a forum... Thats life

I dont mean to put them down, but when i went in with some very basic enquirys the guy dealing with me was clueless. I asked im what graphics card with in a specific laptop, he said "nvidia". I then asked what model/chipset nvidia and he told me they are all the same in laptops .
He also didnt no whether the ram in the laptop was DDR or DDR2.

I find it remarkable! Why do you all knock the LARGEST INDIGENOUS IRISH PC RETAILER and sing praises of U.K. multinationals. Cantec Computerstore have 6 stores in the North East and Midlands and are as competitively priced as Dublin Stores.

On the rare occasion, there may be a few price differences on certain peripherals which I am sure they would be only to glad if you brought to their attention at the time. "Cantec have a core focus on providing customers with a superior local customer service, at prices in line with other U.K. multiples based in Ireland"

I am a very happy customer of Cantec Computerstore, and like many others would go back to them time and time again. If you all take joy in knocking a company who focuses on providing services in towns where these U.K. multiples dont go into, then bigger fools you!

The real fool is the guy paying over the top prices for inferior goods . Their laptops are horribly overpriced, as are their Pc's.
I think its great that they offer the public, with no knowledge of pc's a place to go, but they are loosing out on a lot of the "Pc savy" consumers, we no they are over charging, why would we buy from them?

I never did, I compared it with another retail PC store less than 20 minutes drive away. I totally understand that having a retail store incurs much more expenses than an online one and as such this has to be reflected in the prices

Agreed...I am not racist but it is nice to go into a store and speak to someone that has a good grasp of the English language...

I'll thank you to take back that personal insult...I merely wanted to alert people to the fact that Cantec is not the most competitively priced

You'll always find (IMO) instances where a retail shop is just out of touch on pricing. Must admit I've never heard of cantec, but I occasionally don't mind paying over the odds for stuff if I'm in a hurry.

I nailed haaavey Nooooomans one day on their 110% of the difference (that's so patronising and annoying I just bought the goods elsewhere and asked for a refund) to the tune of around 40 euro on a 90 euro set of speakers.

I was also in the cantec in Navan asking about a desktop PC
It had wrote on the info card "p4 775"
I what speed it was running at "Its a pentium 4 775" When I asked what speed in gigs he told me 775gig

When I asked what type of graphics card it has I was told 128mb radeon, as the card said.
When I questioned what type he repeated its a 128 radeon. He didn't have a clue of model

At this point I asked could he tell me anything that wasn't on the card- No ~So he went to get me a printout which was more detailed a minute later I seen him serving some other people

I walked over past him a few times on the forth walk pass he rembered he was ment to get me something. (Which he didn't have)
and pauned me off on another worker who knew a little more than he did.

Its a funny place I must pop in the next time i'm feeling down and ask for some advice to cheer me up.

Still not got a chance to look at it....dropped in today for a quick price check and it's still priced at €64.99!
