    Hoping someone can help me with title/author of an Irish poem learned in school - but since forgotten.

    Can't remember poet (though might be female) and can't remember title, but theme about nature and passage of time. Only snatches of poem in corners of my brain. Something like:
    Saol an chipín ag dul le sruth
    Saol an néil éagruthaigh
    Saol an {smthing/smthing} um nóin
    {srl..}

    An bhfuil aithne ag éinne faoi?

    I think this poem may well be by Sean O Direain. Its name may be "Seoda"

    I remember from my 1966 Intercert Examination course:

    Saol an chipín ag dul le sruth

    Saol an néill éagruthaigh

    Saol an bhíoogaire ar ghnúis ainnire

    Saol an mhaide ghréine um nóin

    Then one or two lines fail me!

    Is cé nach gcuirfid lón faoi mo chom,

    Ní chruinneofar a malaria liom

    Please let me know you got this and if you ever find the missing lines I'll be delighted to have them please!

    Typos by autocorrect:

    bhíoogaire = bhíogaire

    malaria = malairt

    Just now another line comes to mind,

    "Saol an chúis ar dhroim easa"

    Hope it's right!

    Regards,

    Should have written

    "Saol an chúir ar dhroim easa"

    Here's my final shot at it!

    SEODA

    Saol an chipín ag dul le sruth

    Saol an néil éagruthaigh

    Saol an bhíogaire ar ghnúis ainnire

    Saol an mhaide ghréine um nóin

    Saol an chúir ar dhroim easa

    Seoda ab áil liom i mo stór

    Is cé nach gcuirfid lón faoi mo chom,

    Ní chruinneofar a malairt liom

    Hope that's right,

    Best regards,

    John

    Here is the final authentic version of the poem, obtained from me by a friend from Dun Laoghaire library:

    SEODA - le Martin O Direain

    Saol an chipín ag dul le sruth

    Saol an néill éagruthaigh

    Saol an bhíoga ar ghnúis ainnire

    Saol an mhaide ghréine um nóin

    Saol an chúir ar dhroim easa:

    Seoda ab áil liom i mo stór

    Is cé nach gcuirid lón faoi mo choim,

    Ní chruinneofar a malairt liom
