So, RAB? Are we convinced it's Regulus Black or could this be one of JK Rowling's trademark wild goose chase's?

I think it's almost certainly Regulus but I'm curious to know if there's any other plausible theories out there!

I'm convinced it's Regulus Alphard Black. Plus, since Dumbledore needed help drinking that liquid, I'm guessing that Regulus needed help too.

I'm thinking that particular person may have a large role to play in the next book....

I like the Amy Benson theory. It's just a little bit further afield than Regulus, and JK usually doesn't go for the utterly obvious, but still throws in a few hints. However, Regulus fits better with the Horcrux as locket theory - the little silver locket in Grimmauld Place.
    No-one else seems to fit...

    Who's Amy Benson? :o

Remember when Dumbledore came to the orphanage to get Tom? The matron told a story about two children who were taken to a cave on the coast - the cave the Horcrux was contained in. One of those children was Amy Benson...

When I read back over the final chapters with the Horcrux after someone mentioned Amy Benson, for some reason I though that it could be more than just a person's name ... that being Revenge, Amy Benson

Clutching at straws?? Very maybe :D

Oooh, that's a nice one! I thought the R might have stood for a secret first name, but that's even better!

    here:
    MA: R.A.B.

    JKR: Ohhh, good.

    [All laugh.]

    JKR: No, I'm glad! Yes?

MA: Can we figure out who he is, from what we know so far?

[Note: JKR has adopted slightly evil look here]

JKR: Do you have a theory?

MA: We've come up with Regulus Black.

    JKR: Have you now?

    MA: Uh-oh.

    [Laughter.]

JKR: Well, I think that would be, um, a fine guess.

I really, really, really think it was Regulus Black... there's a lot of evidence pointing to him... in the note, Voldie is refered to as 'the Dark Lord' which is what Death Eaters call him, and we know Reggie was a DE.
