I was thinking of moving over to maybe Killarney, Tralee or Listowel.

What do you think, am I mad ?

    It's just a thought anyhow...

if you listen to someone who tellls you that your not mad of moving then you must be crazy, but if you don't and move down there without hearing from more experienced people then your nuts.. your choice

I don't mind being crazy, just so long as I'm not nuts

    that's the main thing...

    Hope you like tourists...and rain...

    Mike.

It doesn't rain over there any more than anywhere else, - does it?

As far as I always thought, everywhere here is drenced in rain equally.

We all get an equal drenching...maybe I'm wrong in thinking this?

Why do you think Tralee is ****? I went to college in Tralee, and now live there....I think it's ok. Although Killarney does have a better night scene

its just whenever im down there i quickly come to the realisation that there is nothing there to do. and there isnt. but granted, it has the aquadome. but then on the darker side, it also has the rose of tralee. (solice shudders in fear)

What, you don't like the "luvly girls competition" solice? :p

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,110 ✭✭✭solice

its not so much the luvly girls, its more the marty and gaybo. it was and is the worst presented program. i cringe when i think about it.

Yes, which is why I was referring to the "lovely girls" competition in Father Ted. Ever seen that one?

After living near tralee for 16 years and in dublin for the last 3 years I would have to say that it rains a lot more down there than it does on the east coast. But it is a great place to be as long as you have a car so you can get out every now and then. Lots of things to do - drinking, hiking, watersports. I'd definitely have no problems moving back there.

and if you don't have a car you're ****ed I'd say. (can't wait to move out of this country so I can afford to drive).

You could always get a moped. You can drive a small one (with no "L" plates) on a full car drivers' licence.

I think some of them can do up to 120 miles per gallon...
    ...just a thought

    solice,

do you think there's anything more to do in Listowel than in Tralee?

...Listowel is a lot smaller than Tralee

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,110 ✭✭✭solice

but listowel doesnt try to be anything other than a small small town, tralee on the other hand has too many aspirations to be something that its not.

Tralee is applying for sity satuts... well somebody wants to...
As a native of Kerry who has moved to Cork, I'd still recommend living in the Kingdom. Tralee and Killarney are both good bases and nice towns to live in. A car is pretty much essential if you're living in Kerry but there is so much to do... particualrly if you're the outdoorsey type.

as we were talking about rain distribution earlier, I just found a map showing rain distribution in Ireland.

    It's at:-

    http://www.wesleyjohnston.com/users/ireland/geography/climate.html

Just thought I'd post it in case anyone was interested!

Yup, thats what it feels like down there - those damn mountains causing relief rain! And the wind from the ocean blowing all the time...
