Cork - Youghal railway

    looking at these photos it shows the youghal line operational in 1986. Does anyone know when it was closed? and who made the decision to close it?

    It was still used for GAA specials into the 1980's. The last timetabled train ran in 1975 I believe? It's in bits now as it is under Irish Rail "Care and Maintainance" programme.


    There is talk of reopening a double track section to Midleton (but they shuld continue to Youghal as well)

    What do you mean by "care and maintenance programme"?

    Is there any way a private firm/person could buy these lines from IE?
