What is the Differnece between an 8MB cache and a 2MB cache on a Hardrive?
    Is there any noticable difference?

    Huge Differance.

This is very important for read/write speeds and quality.
Obviously Cache wont be hit too much if your doing low I/o operations like file and print however if Oracle production or video streaming is your thing then more is better.

Generally speaking HDD cache is only a major requirement in systems with smaller RAM or without a RAID controller.
and usually 4MB is plenty as long as you have a good fast disk

So it only makes a differance in certain situations ...I believe Fujitsu are the best for cache in the world of SCSI and WD in the IDE market...but dont quote me on that

    Consider this,
You have an 80GB HDD with a 2 MB cache,
That's roughly the space of a floppy disk to hold info temporarily.
That's like using a teacup to transfer oil from a tanker!! :)
Maybe I'm exagerating a bit but it gives you a bit of perspective.
