Remember the childrens channel? I used to love it! Here are a selection of memories:

    - They once had a promotion going where the kids would send in a crisp and if it reached them without being damaged then the kid would be rewarded some 'amazing' prize. (most popular method was a matchbox and cotton wool)

    - Pugwall

    - Degrassi Junior High

    -Rude dog and the DweeBs!

I remember now that you said it, but I had completley forgotten about it. Saved By The Bell is all I really remember. Oh and wasn't California Dreams on it too?

I just had to get in on the act ! The 80snostalgia.com message board fed my addiction of all things 80s but alas that is no longer.

Anyway, back to TCC, does anyone remember Telly Cat and the quarks ?!? Watched it every morning before I headed off to school.

Wasn't it W12 6LH? Hm, I bet *someone* has a video arround here to help me verify - it's driving me mad now. It could be what someone else said - but I didn't think it had 7 digits? Argh.

Anyone remember "The Big Dish"? That's when I pretty much knew TCC was about to be chucked out the door... it's kinda bizarre how this channel is actually still running - to more or less every person in Ireland, it died once cablelink/NTL ditched it.

Remember that show where these mice used rock n' roll to save the world?
There was only one episode and they showed it all the ****ing time, it was worse then the OSbornes. That was the reason I'm glad they got rid of it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,348 ✭✭✭Ryo Hazuki

TCC boasts an unbeatable line-up of shows, 11 hours a day, seven days a week, from 7am to 6pm.

The website does not say it was ever shut down, Perhaps its still on somewhere......

mice used rock n' roll to save the world

    "Biker Mice from Mars" ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 760 ✭✭✭BoobeR

Biker Mice from Mars SERIOUSLY ruled.

i think he used to wear a pink hat too or something..? and a picture of a garden springs to mind...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,348 ✭✭✭Ryo Hazuki

Skeleton Warriors was the only childrens programme I ever saw that had a last episode!

The humans won by throwing the skeletons into lava.

    Anyone remember BATTLETECH?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,945 ✭✭✭D-Generate

Battletech was teh win. Marvellous animation and the storyline was su-poib. The ending was sad aswell, the guy had a showdown against the Clan Wolf on top of a Timberwolf Mech dood and he kicked the Clan Wolf guys ass and the Clan Wolf guy handed over the planet but when the good guy returned to the planet he found out that all his people had been taken as slaves, thus setting up another series which never took place.

If I'm not mistaken, they had a whole show on an imaginery train called the TCC Express, I remember them having 'risk a crisp' on that train and there was some other thing where u draw a small picture and they make a badge out of it for you....or was that a dream?:p

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 173 ✭✭razorfeather

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,521 ✭✭✭Fabritzo

Yeh, I remember Dever the last dinosaur, it was about a group of teens try to keep a big dinosaur a secret, no?! I'd say most people remember it and that's why they're not replying...reason that!?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,503 ✭✭✭Makaveli

I hated Denver the Last Dinosaur.

lol, and I thought I'd never be able to relate to anything on this board. I used to watch nothing but TCC but alas I can't remeber any of the presenters or competitions.

To think it's still around!? I thought it would have been gone by now, considering I hated the channel just before nickelodeon came along due to repeats.

  • Registered Users Posts: 779 ✭✭✭mcgarnicle

Ah TCC, many a fond memory of that channel. It's still around but i think its called trouble now, it used to be all cartoons and stuff but then they start showing more grown up shows (ie. madison and heartbreak high) these shows were a bit too raunchy for kids viewing i remember in the first season of heart break high some guy had it off with his teacher ( she was well fit). These were on for about a yr then parents groups must have been on so they changed their target from kids to teenagers and generally a more mature audience, so they gave it a later spot and changed the name. I remember Jed the scouser and Otis, he is on some BBC thing now called short change.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,811 ✭✭✭✭billy the squid

The TCC express was on saturdays and sundays and had such characters as bimbo the puppet monkey and rosey lee the tea trolley lady.

Steve and Danny did the competitions like risk a crisp and Cadge a badge where u send in a badge, they stick it on a sihluette of a steam train on the wall of the studio and in return their artist would draw a picture of the punters choice and make a badge out of it.

Steve and danny got a weekday show after that if i remember that right

dont remember which was the female steve or danny cos danny was spelt with a y and not an i

When the station started first they got into trouble with the broadcasting authority because their on screen logo was massive during programmes

some of the shows i remember god knows why

dr. snuggles friend of the animal world
masters of the universe was on it

does anyone rememnber that cartoon that was on it too "sparticus" the sun beneath the sea the theme tune was longer than the cartoon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,186 ✭✭✭davej

Ok this is going back to when TCC first became available in Dublin. I remember Roustabout (sp?), they had a competition to name the show and if memory serves someone from Ireland came up with Roustabout.
I also remember "Bob's your uncle" which was this bearded guy who used to make/fix things.

What else? I remember roustabout used to show the spider woman cartoon. I remember that for some reason the teletext pages used to flicker up on the screen for no reason.

tbh I thought tcc was pretty poor quality. That tcc express thing was awful. They used to run it on a loop over and over... I remember one sketch about a guy trying to draw the perfect circle by hand.

    davej

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,811 ✭✭✭✭billy the squid

Bobs your uncle was on TCC but was on one of the terrestrial channels before hand i think it was BBC and then tcc re ran it

do you remember the thing that used to be on before roustabout called hotch potch now that was unadulterated garbage

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,767 ✭✭✭La_Gordy

    Omfg, the nostalgia!
Anyone remember Veid and Void on the Ratcan Rocket?? My picture was once on that and i too one a f3ck load of TCC stickers, caps and a mug that is still functioning.
K so anyone remember- Cadillacs and Dinosaurs
The female presenters name who used to feed those gold fish that kept changing shape probably due to death {brownie points if you remember the goldfishes names}. She had black curly hair and was fairly old. *ponders*

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,348 ✭✭✭Ryo Hazuki

Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, Yes I remember it well.

Good animation from what I remember. the cars of course.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 696 ✭✭✭Kevok

Bah, your remembering all the newer cartoons towards the end of it's life.

You don't remember Mysterious Cities of Gold (have every episode of that  ), Ulysses, He-man, Jayce and the wheeled warriors, She-ra, hell even Rainbow Brite and My Little Pony.

Cartoons these days don't even come close to the epic stories of the 80's.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,767 ✭✭✭La_Gordy

    Mysterious Cities of Gold !!!

I loved that show! Did the kid ever get the other half of his medallion from that bloke?

Someone mentioned the presenter Jez or maybe Jed.That scouser bloke. He was a right retard.
