So what does it say? (for those of us who can't pop into Easons and read it).

    Jeez, thanks Slosh. ^_^

It's actually probably the best of the domestic computer mags... head and shoulders ahead of PC Live! anyway....

Anyway, the piece is in the Internet Who's Who guide to Ireland, and features a pic of Ed, and a paragraph detailing his involvement in the IGN. Doesn't mention how regularly the servers are down and how uncontactable the ba$tard is, tho...

Ooh stoppit Shinji, I'm wetting myself laughing here. Dotty has never been anything much more then a ego/advertising mag for IOL. And *allegedly* it's poor sales and the fact it's kack is one of the reasons Barry sold IOL to the PostGem.

Did it mention IGN is a voluntary group? (least it was the last time I looked).

    Hobbes,

It's obvious that you haven't been in the country for a while from your little rant. Dot-IE was made completely independent from IOL a long time ago, and in fact most of the writers don't like IOL very much at all. The sales of the magazine are high, the quality of the writing and info in it is good, if too business-oriented for my liking, and it beats the pants off any of the domestic competition. It's now monthly, and once the CD is on, it'll be head and shoulders above most of the business/average consumer computer mags available over here.

    So there :P

As to "poor sales of Dot-IE being one of the reasons for the IOL sale"... that's a heap of misinformed crap. The link with IOL was broken long before the sale, and anyway, IOL never actually ran Dot-IE, it was always published by RyanHo, now Hoson.

I didn't start working for them until after the IOL link was cut, but I think you're right - most of the articles were IOL generated until we left, and any that were done freelance were heavily edited by IOL.
