on the past 13 years (since 1990) and we will vote on which players make the dream team.

Can I get some suggustions for the best Goalkeepers
(huirling and football) for the past 13 years

I am submitting John O leary ( of course)

    Now pay attention !!

I dont watch the championship on UTV so I dont know whats going on there.

But this week im looking for goalkeepers so unless peter canavan and DJ carey have been misleading me I dont think they count

the way Im going to do it is get a list of the best goalies and we will have a vote and the winner is in the GAA ( boards.ie ) Dream team.

Then I will be looking for the full back line, half back line and so on....

    are ya with me ?

Ah rite you are Alany, in which case, Finbar McConnell. He is the only man to date with 4 Senior Ulster Medals (That'll cange on July 13th). He saved Tyrone so many times, and played from early 90's rite up until 2001.

Sorry. I just read the subject title and let rip. Should have read the the rest of the post.

Al right the best goalie over the last 13 years. Only 13 years? Why not stretch it out to 25 years - that's when my memory starts.

My nominee: Goalkeeper - Peter Walsh

    5. Declan Meehan (Galway)
    6. Francie Grehan (Roscommon)
    7. Sean Og De Paor (Galway)

[edit] Substitution = Dermot McCabe for Ronan Carolan :D [/edit]

Sean Martin Lockhart (Derry) and Henry Downey (Derry) most definitely....

I dont think Anthony Tohill (Derry) was one of the best <maybe im mad>... for a few years in the early 90's ... but in the last four/five years i dont think he is the power house we once knew...

Just a thought (no idea how this popped into my head at all) but maybe instead of a poll a thread would be better (If you have the time obviously) where people can nominate everyone but only vote for players from different counties to their own.

Judging by the responses so far we'll have a team of Dublin players with some bizarre Cavan guy coming in on the bench as goalkeeper! :D And Meath mightn't figure all that much (which would obviously be a good thing).

As for a goalkeeper I think Davy Fitz (Brendin Cummins a close second) in Hurling and Declan O’Keeffe for football (with John O'Leary and Finbarr McConnell getting honourable mentions).

yes I have been thinking about this and I think I should find a way to make it a bit easier and fairer....I dunno...I will have a wee think about it

How about starting a thread requesting reasonable suggestions for positions and then doing a poll of these. A bit like the all-stars. Try 5 Goalies and then say 10 people for each line. (Can you restrict poll to only 3 selections?) And then it's fair game on any of these, even though people might be a little biased in their views.

It could also generate some good arguments (I mean debate) on selecting the 10!

Davie Fitz for the hurling, even though he is a little knacker.
Stephen byrne for that performance against clare a few years ago. Fantastic.

Watch brian Mullins as a great keeper of the future
