IS IT TOO LATE TO CHANGE UK4???

I'm having second thoughts about uk4.
They are...
1. Not as many people know it as I had first thought.

2.Its much bigger and ****er then I remember it.

3. No-one seems to like it.

4. iqcl.quake.ie seems to have been taken offline so we have nowhere really to praccy except iol (dunno if thats even possible)

5. ppl will have to d/l the map if they dont have it and I DO NOT fancy the mahem that will arise on the weekend as muppets hammer the ftp server (if its even up) for the map 5 mins after the game was supposed to start.

I dont have a definite replacement but I was thinking The Ogre Citadel which I'm told is a good clan war level (not by a CT person either, they quite like uk4).

There is always e2m1 but I dont like that pent/gl hole

I am loath to go for another tight, control level like e1m2, but I dunno.

Failing anyone changing my mind I think The Ogre Citadel is a good choice.

Ogre citadel isnt bad, while the rl can be held easily, the lg/ga and 100h is a good comeback, so no real probs with that.
e4m8 is a good level, although fukall ppl know it, its kind of an e4m3 effort with quads and rls'n'sh!t.
E3M1 is another one that's kinda kewl with loadsa different ways to the different weapons.
What about Death32? Its good coz its a level that can be controlled if done properly, but at the same time its a class mosh level.

But while not many know UK4, its a great level, we played CW on it last year, real tactical, but the main prob being like you said, muppets won't have it til its too late.

Overall, methinks death32 would be a cool one to pick, but ogre citadel might be interesting.

UK4 - Clever clan wins, but ****e on modems, far too _huge_
Death32 - Too big for 4 on 4, a joke...you'll get camping muppets with 200 200.
E2M1 - Shagged after the gib v qpd game, we all know about the pent room.
E2M2 (ogre) - Dunno, looks good.
E1M2 - Possibly best clan level after dm3, everyone is too scared to play it though.
UK6 - CT played clan 2 on this level, looks big but is really tight...good level.

Are we playin e1m2 at some stage? IQCL is down...uk4 will be ****e though

Dev this hasn't anything to do with a certain CT star getting -1 frags on UK4 on saturday night? Loike it was an iqcl final map last year and it aint really that big seeing as all the action centres around the rl/ra and the quad. Tis a bit **** for fps alright but so is e2m1 and e2m2 is a bit easy to control. Like no way of comeback.

Nah, koopa will rock regardless of the level.
Its just that a lot of people have said it to me and while I dont usually change my mind if someone puts forward a decent argument for a change I'm ammeniable.

The most compelling argument is for an easy life for me on the weekends.

e2m2 (Ogre) isnt that easy to control. You can always get back in via quad or gl or lg or rl (no point in camping rl really).

e1m2 will be played at sometime and if people really wanted it instead of uk4 I'd acquiesce grudgingly. (I hate it)

dm2 will be played over my cold and clammy corpse. And I'll be long in the grave before I recognise Missouri.

Tight control is one thing to test but there are many other things that go to make up a good clan. Individual skills. Teamplay to cover a large level. Communication. Ability to get themselves on a server for a match.

I've always said that it was ****e but INC members really wanted it. That is until CW tied ye to the central 100h and ****ed on ye from the balcony.

Excuse me here. I was ASKING if people wanted it changed. A LOT of people have expressed annoyance at having to play it, and I want to gauge the desire for it to be changed. Next time I'll just suit myself and **** the lot of ye.

I'm not bad at e4m3 either.

But if anyone feels im suiting myself here, then lets hear suggestions. In fact if anyone thinks I'm suiting myself I'll happily resign and they can take over.
I was joking about dm2 as the Simpsons quote should have indicated (sorry I know I know I should have PLASTERED it with smileys...).
I DONT like dm2 for clan wars cos I think its stupid but if enough people asked for it I would include it, as I did DM3.

uk4 - grand, played a wierd game there last year, dont care about it tho
e2m2 - not bad lev, played many an abat team there back in the old days
e2m1 - are we silly enough to do that sh!te with the pent gl thing
e4m8 - Zero, its WAY too huge, and not a TP lev at all, but good for a big FFA
e1m2 - dont mind, dont care, play it if ya want
dm3 - bad memories
uk6 - funny lev, good game with CD there last yr too

I think that the levels we need are E1M2 and DM2 and E2M2,

E1M2 has got to be one of the best clan game levels, its purely a skillful level.

DM2 is a very fast level, also full of skill. I dont think that DM2 should be left out of this tournament.

E2M2...cant be held down. Sure look at E1M2, how many llamas do u see hold down the RL..????



DEATH32...YAWN, too big, perfect for 16 player FFA's....NOT for this league.

First off E4M3 _looks_ like an FFA level, but it can be locked down, quite easily in fact, its just people prefer ffa's on it. We were screwed in the INC game, they could have mauled us, but we held positions and beat them on that alone (considering I couldnt hit a barndoor) IMO

The swedes play DM2 because its a novelty (i.e on avg each swedish player has played 10 times the clan games we have) and because they have low pings and can do all the boomstick/dbsg stuff that we couldnt handle having 2 hpb's. DM2 for the highly skilled only, same with E1M2, but we can handle that
map.

E2M2 has peculiar "spawn in the walls/floor" bugs but it's a good map for 4 v 4. UK4 is a bit big for 4 v 4 but I like it. I like most maps in fact. Except Ziggy Vertigo and Mgbase. The reason people are against playing some maps is cos they haven't worked out the best way to play them. On Dm2 for example if your team is getting mullered you need at least 2 people working together to make an attack and take back the level.

As e2m2 is concerned im not trying to avoid it because it rocks - It's Abat's fav lev, but we stopped playin it cos ppl kept callin us muppets

We need to know the level, and fairly lively like. I'm pretty much in the same boat as Jay, having never looked at UK4 b4 yesterday, but I'm remedying that problem. I think it's just too late to change the level now, cos I'm pretty sure that any level that may be chosen (apart from e4m3 again<IMG SRC="http://lacerta.ucg.ie/boards/smile.gif&quot; WIDTH=15 HEIGHT=15 BORDER=0 ALT=":)">) I would have to learn, and I doubt that I am alone in that. In future try to find out in advance if there is gonna be any problems with the levels rather than leaving it until the last minute.

Ok, I've canvassed on IRC and read all the replies here and I have formed an opinion which I want to run past Kharn (as the other senior admin) and then we will announce it.

It seems clear that playing this weekend is out so we have plenty of breathing space for level changes if thats what we decide.
I hope to post our decision here, within 24 hours. Stay tuned.
