I need some help for a mate who owns this website.

    http://www.smartchoicegreetingcards.com/

He is very new to web adverttising and so far he is advertising on Ebay and www.thedadsarmy.org (our clan webby).

What are the going rates for a banner and what would webmasters here recomend he should do about adsvertising?

    thanks

Well banner rates depend on differnt sites, I sell adverts for about 50/month a site like mine (it's a lot bigger) charges nearly 50 times that amount.

As for looking for a site to advertise on this is what i would do ,

Go to a search engine like Yahoo.com or google.com and do a search for greetingcards, Take alook at what the top few are

Then go to this site, http://www.alltheweb.com type in "link:www.oneofthetoplinks.com" and if will show you the links that link to the top sites,

YOu will see what site link to th ebest/top site, try getting a banner with them, might cost a few quid tho.

Another way is google ad word, https://adwords.google.com/select/

you can bid for the Clicks. when people search for greeting cards, if you are teh highest bidder your link/site will be on the top.

Hope this helps a little bit.

There is no fixed rate to be honest.
Some sites will charge large indecent amounts of money, while others are open to offering monthly rates.
If your friend is interested in taking out advertising on one of our sites get him to contact us

All as per above - just be careful which sites you choose and make sure you get statistics for clicthroughs etc.

I would suggest he talk to a professional online marketer to discuss what options are available to him.

Being in the top results of the search engines for certain keyphrases would benefit him more - or - pay-per-click campaigns have been proven to be more effective than banner advertising in most cases!
