Frag Pipe secret....

playing on BW dm the other day on q2dm3...and I saw this guy get locked inside the frag pipe thingy..anyway I saw him JUMP up onto the side ledge of the windows in the pipe...he stayed up there i swear..out of the way of the lava..until it had reset itself, he then ran out safe and sound. Has anyone else seen this being done?...or have they done it?...ive tried it meself and i cant seem to find any way of jumping onto the window, there IS NO ledge, wtf's going on here?

I just had a good ole look around the pipe, and the guy must be a modern-day Christ, walking on lava. Not only is there no ledge there, but the lava would come up past your waist even if you were standing there! Weird...

Which reminds me... before I get accused of cheating *again*... There is, indeed, an invunerability on the Frag Pipe, near the rocket launcher.... it takes an _evil_ rocket jump to get it, though, but you get a heap of health, a railgun and an invunerability for your trouble.

Don't know about the lava ledge. Although if a wall is sloped then it's possible to hang onto it for a period of time (eg. RL area in Base 1, sloped walls all around). I'll have a look at it later.

Nono... don't get me wrong, I knew about the pent ages ago... rule number one of DM levels, spend a while running about on noclip before playing for real... ^_^

But a certain Venom, who shall remain nameless, accused me of cheating the other day cos I had the pent, and I wanted to avoid such unpleasantness in the future! ^_^

As to that spot on Lava Tomb near the BFG... nice, innit? And probably one of the most secret secrets in Q2!

Pain of a spot, as someone with enough rail ammo can camp out there for quite a while and pick people off either by shooting or running out and in again to upset the timing of the pillars. Plus it's a camp respawn spot. Best Respawn camp spot is on Q2DM1, just place yourself crouched ontop of the underground (machinegun) tunnel entrance with a railgun (on the railgun side of the tunnel) and keep fireing at the respawn spot. In a busy ffa you could get upto 10 frags that way before somebody can stop you.

Respawn camping is a cheap kill, and only losers do it. Least with actual camping it requires a certain level of skill (eg. Baiting people, avoiding getting killed, maintaining ammo supply, holding camping position).

I've seen lpbs (sub 30ms pings) do it on bw a few times. Now if its not enought to have a huge ping advantage but they also resort to spawn camping in order to finish 20 frags ahead of everbody else.
In Action Quake theirs so many spawn campers it taken as part of the game and we all have to put up with it or just not play.

That's why a lot of mods have a 2-3 second safty on a respawn to stop that.

Shin I am sorry I said u were cheating the other night,I stand corrected.But I caught a muppet cheating on a duel sever before.I chased the guy around the whole level(dm2)with every weapon on the level and couldnt kill the bast.Quad bfg and rocket under water at very close range followed by point blank ssg blasts and the guy didnt even go down so I do get a wee bit paranoid when strange **** starts going on during a match.

I bet none of ye slackers can jump from the Upper RL to the two Rocket Packs + 25 health + Armor Shard mound thingy on Q2DM1. I CAN. It's really handy if someone is waiting for you to grab the RL with RG at the entrance to the 100h room. Surprises them like skippy.

...need to point out something. The reason you camp is to up your frag count. Now, camping respawns will give you more frags than camping that 3-Pillar-BFG hole. You CAN'T argue against Spoon by saying '...no-way dude, real camping is when you need to collect ammo aswell and adjust your aim sometimes...'. That nothing but bullsh!t. You think it's REAL camping 'cos it has a little bit more skill involved. I'll tell you what REAL camping is so. Real camping is when you run all over the place collecting all weapons and ammo trying to hold every position on the map at once and aiming left, right, backward, forward, up and down.

Oh and even if money was involved you shouldn't camp a respawn. It wouldn't get as much frags as playing normally.

Oh AND I suprised at alot of you comming in here and mouthing off about how many secrets you've found and how your better than other players. If your gonna be a player worth your skin you should know every secret there is by now. Here's the Q2DM1 secrets you can try:

Jumping directly to 100health from boxes (no need to go via wall panel).

Jumping to 2-Rocket Packs, Armour Shards, 2-Medical Packs from ground below (there's a hump near stairs). Also can reach from jumping from UPPER-RL.

Running through machinegun tunnel without making noise entering and exiting the water puddle.

Grenade, RL-Jumping up onto see-through sky floor in main open area.

Plus, there's MANY other grenade, RL-jumping antics that can be helpfull. Who knows the fastest route up the boxes to the yellow-armour? I do.

Its possible to survive the frag pipe if you have a bit of armour and have just grabbed the 100h and perhaps jump about the place.
I remember surviving it in this way myself. Needless to say as I stared stunned at the screen, wishing everyone could see how I had suddenly become immortal, some F**K railed me in the ass. Such is life.

Also, I have to laugh at Spoon's comments on camping. -=CampMaster=- (whoever the hell HE is) is surely the undisputed king of camping. He is making a name for himself on Barrysworld DM for annoying the hell out of punters for blatent camping. He told me about (or indeed she) 2 great camping antics guaranteed to p*ss folks off.
1. Q2DM2 - Just grab a RL and head up to the 100h ledge. Stay there, camp at the top of the lift and fire grenades down to the pool when you hear someone get the quad. Apparantly its hilarious and annoys people no end. I might try it sometime.

2. His favourite - Q2DM3 - set up camp near the machine gun crouching and looking at the respawn point. I, I mean campmaster, once railed the same guy 9 times in a row on a bust server doing this (and hit the 50 fag limit). Sorry about the stutter there ;-)
