Does the phone have to be unlocked or something if i want to use it for a foreign sim card in another country??
How do i go about doing this?

I'm not sure if it is necessary in your case, but i am quite sure i rwad somewhere that unlocking a handset is a factory procedure.

It depends on the phone, network and tariff. A rule of thumb used to be all pre-pay phones were locked, and contact ones were not. Then slowly - certain expensive models were locked, and others missed the process - making it hit and miss.

The easiest way to check is to stick in a SIM card from another network, if it accepts it - you'll be OK abroad.

As for unlocking being a factory proceedure - far from it, it usually is just a case of entering a 6 digit unlock code, and there are a number of programs available on the internet that will calculate the correct code for you - say, to unlock an xda from O2.
