OPS in IRC #Quake

Hi Folks,
This is only a suggestion and tbh it might/might not work. I would like to see the leader of each Clan having OPS in #Quake on IRC (no offence to those ops there already) but it would be nice if ppl agreed to that suggestion. Not only would it put pressure on leaders to take ctl of their clan members etc. It would be a nice jesture from IRC heads. But if it dont work then just drop it. I wouldnt object hugely - we tried it before and it didn 't work out very well though. You say if done properly it could work. I say give it a shot for a trial period of a week or a month or something.

I would suggest that everything would work smoothly as long as notorious muppets don't get Ops.

A rather straightforward solution to the problem. After all, these muppets are well known to everyone.

I strive to be like them, that all being said. Last time I got Ops in a channel, I kicked & banned myself. Tough but fair, I thought. Hell, I had it coming.

its all gettin bit tedious in #quake tbh. I lost the old interest in it all....i turn it on an ignore it till i want to speak to someone.....its got soooo full of ****beg fartknockers an all. quake itself indeed has become very full off ****abg fartknockers too but there u go. I mean us nerds need to stick together on this lest we become (impossibly) uncool like . Maybe Im just old and scared. Maybe, indeed, i am way tooo out of the old proverbial to make sense.

I'm 97.8% happy with the ops situation in
#quake; in other words..97.8% of the ops in #quake are totally sound and I can see why they are chosen. But there are the other 2% that I cannot see why they have ops and they do behave quite irresponsibley with what they have. I think everyone knows who they are so im not gonna name names. Even so, I think #quake is in dire need of a few more @'s...there have been many times when the channel had no control over it at all and you can imagine what happend then. These are probably the best qualifications for receiving @'s in #quake, and i think most ppl will agree with me:

--> You have to have done or be doing somthing to help the Irish Quake/Quake2 community.

--> You have to be sound(bout sums up most character traits)

--> You have to be on irc reasonably regularly.

I dont think there can be any arguments over those(although im sure someone will find somthing)

WWMan is right. #Quake2 and #doozer don't need much looking after, as the people on there are generally responsible and behave themselves... there's no comparison between the q2 channels and the kind of muppetry that goes on in #quake, which is why #quake needs a more firm hand to run it.
