    i`ve got a slight prob,

Trying to add/mod/del from a access DB, website is hosted on an eircom windows server(dont ask)

    error i`m getting is :

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'

[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Cannot update. Database or object is read-only.

    /test/newsletter/from_form.asp, line 27

Using a DSN-less connection, the locktypes dont make any differnce, the problem is that i can chmod the DB to allow modification.

    I can`t make a DSN connection.

    Help

is the DB in a read-only directory:-
sometimes the server may have two folders (or more), say private & www - web pages go in www and databases go in private. The private folder would have write permissions.
email me if you need further help.

Create a directory behind the root folder (for security reasons.

Allow "change" access to the folder for IUSR_ComputerName.

If its a live server on the web be careful with the access you are giving.

It all works when running locally, as i can edit the permissions at read write.

the eircom web server when logged into the root only has one folder, this containing the webby pages, i`ll try to make a db folder in root and work from there

Thanks for the help so far

You won't be able to change it then. You will have to contact Eircom.

If there is a cgi-bin/scripts folder on the server try popping it in there!
