Just got my hands on one of those O2 XDA's.

I can get WAP goin alright, but I have no idea how to use GPRS or any of that lark.

I have a "ready to go" SIM card in it at the mo.

Any ideas how to get IE in this working through the built in mobile?

(this might be better on the wireless board)

i'm going to assume you are on O2 with a speak easy sim (if you have the XDA unlocked and are using it on Vodafone with a ready to go sim i'll have to post back)

you need to contact O2.ie internet support (at bottom of that linked page) and have them set-up your pre-pay Speakeasy account with the pp.internet access point

once they provision you for access to the pp.internet access point you you can use the full internet to get email and browse web sites

one point though, as a pre-pay user you are charged 3c per kilobyte, so browsing full and pda friendly sites and checking email can add up to a lot of data downloaded (compared to WAP) - this device is more suited to a pay-montly account with a GPRS package if you are going to be using a lot of data

they should be able to talk you through the settings, if not you need to:

tap start > settings > connections

tap the dialing locations tab (at bottom)
ensure location is set to mobile
tap on dialing patterns botton, make sure only a G is entered in all the boxes
    tap ok (top tight)

tap the connections tab (at bottom)
    under Internet Settings tp Modify
    tap New...

    enter the name: internet
    modem: Cellular Line (GPRS)
baud rate: 115200 (this can reset itself to a different value seems to be a bug - but it still connects at the fastest speed it can)

    tap the advanced button:
    use server assigned ip address
uncheck all the boxes (for slip/compression)
    tap the name servers tab
    use specific server address
    dns: 62.40.32.33
    alt dns: 62.40.32.34
    tap ok at top right

    tap next
    access point name: pp.internet
    tap finish

when prompted for a username and password, for both you can just enter: gprs

    hth,

hi - have O2.ie Internet/WAP support enabled the pp.internet (full internet) access point for you on the O2 Speakeasy SIM card you are trying it with?

    what's the full message(s) that's its displaying?
