Submit your website url on the page below. It may take google a month or two to crawl your site. After that it should be on it permanently.

Metatags would be a good idea too, here is a post where we where talking about them this week.

Mr Blacknight has a program to make em too if you dont want to do it manually the link to the program is in that post too.

It may be in Google already. If it is a .ie site and has been registered in the last few months, then it more than likely has been spidered by Google. Try typing a query like:

    site:www.companyname.ie keyword

in Google where 'keyword' is a word that is to be found on some of the website's pages.

The best and quickest way to get into Google is through a link from a site with a high PageRank. If you get a link on a site with a page with a PageRank higher than 4 your website will be spidered more frequently than others. In saying all that jmmcc is right, your site could well be on google already. A link from any other site is enough to get you ranked, its just that google will spider the higher ranking sites more often (with their fresh bot).

Google doesn't use the keyword meta tag for ranking, but its always a good idea to put these in for other search engines.

To improve your own page rank make sure you submit your site to Dmoz.org - and put in more than one category if the site fits in to many of them.

Studies have shown that 75% of people will search NOT for a business or company name but for services or products they seek. So make sure you come up with some good keywords relating to your dad's business. Its better to get 10 quaility hits a month rather than 200 lucky hits!

    Exactly!
Unfortunately a lot of SEO companies still use publicity blurb based on getting your company name in the list. Useless! Of course if you looked for 'Blacknight Solutions' we would be number one, but we wouldn't get any business that way.

As Tom mentioned, being linked to from a site with a high rank is helpful, as they are spidered more often. A good method is to get listed on statically built directories, such as IrishSearch or BrowseIreland, as each page is statically rebuilt.
Another method is to request reciprocal links with neighbouring sites.

And as blacknight forgot to mention -

the sites he named have no submission charge unlike most other directories out there now!!!

So at least get your site listed on these two sites - they will yield you better results through google than some of the other pay per listing sites!
