I'm still mining away, the perfect job for a idler like myself.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,682 ✭✭✭LookingFor

I just signed up to this over the weekend and started playing. I'm under the name "Patrick Aran" if anyone wants to look me up. I may also be noticed by my penchant for flying around in an unarmed Imicus (though I'm sticking to 1.0 and 0.9 sectors for now!). I think I'll prob make my money in mining..working towards ship upgrades and the like is fun.

    Really pretty game too..

Cool LookingFor, if you're looking for an easy going mining copr to help yuo along, drop me a pm.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,682 ✭✭✭LookingFor

Cheers Steve, I may well do that in the near future. I think I'll solo for a while, just to see where I'm at, but if I'm looking for a corp, I'll come straight to ya ;)

LOL - trust me when I say you WILL be looking for a corp :)

That way you get the support of others, and also the chance to make serious money :)

Before I joined my current corp I was tiddling away at mission rats up to 110k bounty - now I happily hunt BS spawns worth 1 million upwards :)

Haha, yeah, probably. I hear things get "good" when you join a corp, but for now i'm enjoying it as is. Just upgraded my ship last night before heading to bed, so I can't wait to try it out when i get home from work ;)

Im looking forward to the Player complexes coming online - right now wars just drone on and on with no end in sight unless one side is obviously outclassed and should never have got in the war in the first place. PvPers will value them as bases and targets, and a stream of consumables required will mean that if one sides mining corps/operations come under threat theyll have to sue for peace to keep their bases online.

Ive only been playing a few months, and the major attraction is building towards the next ship or the next level 5 skill, but i can see how when youve done all that that it becomes stale - so its good to see them adding whole new content.

Im going to get myself a subscription, and download the game off of the site..

    any hints/tips for a n00b?

  • Registered Users Posts: 998 ✭✭✭zekiel

Go through the tutorial in game.. and then head over to the corporation channel and start chatting to guys looking for people to join there corp. The quickest way to learn is to join a corp and get mining/fighting with them and mainly just have fun!.

    A couple of helpful area's

In game - join channel [Irish] a lot of the lads from boards do idle in this channel and will be more than happy to give you some pointers.

and visit www.eve-i.com for more info on how to play and the best course to take depending on what you want to do in EvE.

Here is what will happen. Rather then sue'ing for peace, the traders will go onto the forums and whine and whine and whine, until they get their own way and can't be attacked unless they say so. It's almost a given in any MMORPG. Whoever whines the loudest wins.

I have been having a go at the free trial on this it looks good, how long do you reckon it will be around?

I say this cause Im pretty busy at the moment in college and had my internet connection removed to aid my success this year, but would like to come back to it in May next year.

Ok, so im of to bad start. First thing I did was warp to this stargate, saw a billboard, attacked it, got my ass handed to me by it, and now im a floating egg. Lovely.

and what's this tutorial?? When the game started after I'd done my character, I was on my own. Didn't see any tutorial

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,088 ✭✭✭BioHazRd

Now why would you attack a billboard  - those things pack a punch lol. Regarding the tutorial, I thought it popped up on the screen as your character was born. However, a valuable thing to do is dock in your original station and click on the agents tab on the right side of the screen. you will see that you have a lvl1 agent available to you. Right click him/her to talk to them and they will give you missions to do. This is the best way to learn how to play the game. Also, make sure you complete the training, as when you do, your standings with the faction will increase and you will have access to higher lvl agents which means more isk in your wallet.
Don't forget to join the channel "irish" ingame, we are a very noob friendly bunch in there, and you won't be led astray.

In the case of EVE its nearly always in pirates favour afaics.....

how do you open the Irish channel?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,088 ✭✭✭BioHazRd

select channels from the left menu and then select new channel - just type "irish" and then you will see it in the list - then all you do is click join, and you will be in.*

    *I think

Hey Celt, which system are you in? I'm looking to join a corp but I couldn't find yours. All that came up was Atlantic Region Mining Associates. Game's quite cool, might consider buying it.
In the meantime, I came across this. That guy is a genius. Makes me want to do it!

    that storys classic

    anybody still playing this?

the irish channel seems a bit dead lately

Maybe. Everyone whines - I see plenty of wannabe pirates on the eve forums whinging about this and that too. Plenty of them were upset with missles changes so that they couldnt bushwhack indies in Empire space with cruise missles in their kestrels, with a buddy ready to gather up the pieces after they got splatted. I think 0.0 will always be no-holds barred, whereas people who arent ready for 0.0 or dont want the risk will stay in Empire.

I reckon though that the usefulness of POS and their supposedly incessant mineral requirments will mean that miner corps will become more useful to their pvp colleagues - right now CA is taxing their miners 20% because they dont view miners as pulling their weight. So if an alliance wants to maintain control of a region, theyll be less able to waltz off halfway across the galaxy leaving their miners unprotected, because if they place any value on POS at all then theyll feel the loss when they come back and find all their POS ethier conquered or offline. That was my point about being forced to sue for peace.

Of course if an alliance doesnt place any value on POS they wont build them in the first place, and wont place any real value on miners anyway.

He seems like a very good writer, and with a devious mind to boot. I dunno if Id admire him though, all the way through hes f0cking people for play-money...He even came close to f0cking his partner in crime over with only the fear of physical pain preventing him. Youve got to wonder about someone who places toy money over his friendships.

That said I did laugh and laugh with his description of Thoggins and how he screwed him over. Like I said, hes a good writer.
the irish channel seems a bit dead lately

Well, theres usually between 4-10 ppl in it but its always very quiet. Just because were all irish doesnt mean weve got anything to say to each other:)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,161 ✭✭✭steve-hosting36

All the irish should form a corp and slowly take over the entire galaxy :) Shure 'tis the Irish way ;)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,161 ✭✭✭steve-hosting36

Just to add, we're Tri Helix in Oimmo, a small corp, mainly mining at the moment, but also building apocalypse bs for the miners and ravens for the escorts :) Newbs welcome :) Mainly Irish, Northern and Dutch members at the mo :)

I've been meaning to get back into this game for months now, I just cant seem to find the time.

I'm all excited about the new elements added in and what capabilities they have, I've lost touch though with the game and whats happening in it though so will most likely find myself lost.

    I'm corpless at the moment...

hmm got to get back into it! .... :(
