    is it true that for outdoor use, a wireless NIC has to have an aerial?

    didint think it would make a difference, surely wireless is wireless. the card in question is a 22mb US robotiics

    Depends on how far you want to make the link. Antenas can be used to boost the transmit and recive power of a card, focus the transmissons in specfic directions, broadcast them in all directions etc....

    You dont absoutly have to use one but in some cases u may not make a link without one....
