Anyone know how to get that saucy little wheel going in Quake?

Can it be used as a 3rd mouse button in Quake or to cycle thru things?

Regards,
Robbo

I have my wheel working as a third button, but the move up and down ain't. Win 98 users won't have any probs cause it's part of the OS or sommat (according to Trojan).
SeP said Ser used to have some weird thing that bound it to keys and then u bound the wheel to the keys or something like that.
Anyway - I haven't got it working for that, but will keep looking <IMG SRC="http://lacerta.ucg.ie/boards/curlydav.gif" WIDTH=15 HEIGHT=15 BORDER=0 ALT="@B^)">

Mouse wheel up and down can only be used in quake if u have a usb mouse as far as i know, u can use the third button as a normal button tho...

You can use the mousewheel for weapons cycling and stuf. I've got a logitech ps2 wheel mouse and it works fine. I can use the mouse wheel for cycling and the third mouse button too. If you have the correct drivers installed Q2 should recognize the mousewheel command. In Q1, I wouldn't know, I haven't played that in a loooooooong time...

Don't bother with that logitech crap, sell your soul to microsoft, you know you want to, hell you're already half way there if you're using their operating system. The intellimouse may be a little expensive, but it is very responsive, the most comfortable mouse I've ever used, and the mouse wheel act as 3 more buttons (up, down, and pushing it down like a normal button). So come on Rob, do the right thing, fill Master Gate's pockets, help make this a Microsoft world.

Muhahahahahahaha

Erm, did you try bind mwheelup "impulse 10" or bind mwheeldown "impulse 12"? I think that should work if the mouse is properly installed.

Cos of Win98 I got my hands on a brand spanking new usb mouse, doesn't feel 16 times faster than th normal one, although it is smoother<IMG SRC="http://lacerta.ucg.ie/boards/smile.gif" WIDTH=15 HEIGHT=15 BORDER=0 ALT=":)">

em, theres a program that you can get to let you use the mouse wheel np. It just runs in the background and maps mwheel up and down to h and j.

And being the kind person i am, you can get it from:

fdsasfefds`er``c
that has got to be one of the stupidest programs ive seen this year...
why would anyone want to use a program to translate mwheelup and mwheeldown bindings to 'h' and 'j' when they can simply bind 'h' or 'j' directly??
whhhyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!
the whole point of binding mwheelup and mwheeldown is so that you can use the wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeel

woohoo a biscuit
