Hi all,
I was just on IRC talkin to Rauper the lad doin the UK team there having a match soon with Sweden and then will be lookin for more after that.
Now before everyone goes on about UK pings i doubt it will happen for a while but he was askin about an Irish team, I told him there was a sort of team goin but no training or anythin has been done as yet.
Plus he was all for a home and away leg's.
So Spoonman whats happening regard the TGB's maybe with the prospect of a couple of matches it might kickstart something.We see how they help the quake scene,and as q2 is now EST as a widely played game in its own right i reckon it time we got somethin sorted.
Don't you all agree????. I think on home truff we can defo live with what the uk can throw at us.

perhaps a HPB team for now? no offense to irish q2 LPB's but we don't have too many atm. and none anywhere close to the likes of [UNR]Tasan or [NME]Killdozer. cast yer votes, only 2 names i can think that def have to be on the team

As for the TGBs - yeah defo! lets get things moving! How many people do we need? What's the standard number? 4 like in Q1? So say, 10 in total, including an 'op-for'?

Getting the TGB's going is a good idea as after playing on brit severs for so long(as the Irish severs were down for so long)it became apparant to most of us that were so much better than the brits and a team of the best Quake2 players should kick ass.However the last time it was tried there was f*ck all interest due to the fact that most of the team picked by spoon(who died and made him god)dont even play q2.The q2 national team should be made up of ppl who play q2 (and not a couple of q1 ninja's who play now and again).Players who tormented Suds for a sever,players who put up with c*ap pings to brit severs coz they enjoy playing q2.I suggest a contest be held to see who makes the grade and only Irish q2 players(no q1 ppl,let them join the q1 national team) be allowed to enter(this does not mean Irish based).

WAH ARE YE ON ABOUT ? No q1 HPB's are good enough anymore for the q2 TGB team. Well, I mean , um what do i mean? well, in the old days (arghhhh, when all this were fields arrgh and pints cost 2d n 6) the q1 players who played the odd bit of q2 WERE better than us q2'ers. sorta. ooooooo do you ever feel like yer digging a big dirty hole for youself? weell at least as good. however, the same isn't true now. the regular q2'ers are better than iregular q1'ers (bit of fiber sort that out lads) who play the odd bit of q2.

Right for a start why are yis only pickin HPB's????? Are yis lookin to fukin loose or what??!!??!!! What about Shank and PeterPan?, 2 of the best players in Ireland! right, my 2 cents. Since DZR started this 100% irish thang i think thats what we should do for the tgb team. Oops, oh hang on a sec that means Janeymackers (born in canada) cant be on it, Maximilian (born in england me thinks although i'm probably wrong), cant be on it, PeterPan (russian) cant be on it, spoonman (from cavan) cant be on it, er well. Personally i think there should be the top two players from each clan such get a mention somewhere.. I'd limit the squad to Irish residents (ie, those with a residents visa, or Irish nationals).

As for people, I think a good start would be for each clan leader to pick 4 people from his clan who he thinks is playing best atm (not just who used to be good, or who would be good if he/she practiced etc etc.) Lets face it - if anyone knows best how someone is playing, it's their clan leader. The list of the top 4 from each clan should be the starting point. That's not to say that each clan will be represented, in fact I'd say the team will be made up of members from only 3 of the 8 or so current clans. But, I think it would be a fair and accurate starting point.

So, clan leaders, post your 4 best players, we'll pool those into a list, and select the best 10 from that. Some of the people mentioned may not be free to play, but, again, I still think it will make a good and fair starting point.

As for HPB/LPB - I reckon it's sensible to start with a HPB team. Face it lads, we can't handle UK 40 ping rail-gods on Barrysworld - even our LPBs would have twice the ping of their LPBs ffs.

I have nothing against ppl and players from another country but they shouldnt be on The Irish national team,look at the Irish football squad and the slagging they get from various football commentators about where there from.Teeth made a good point about hpb players,Irish hpb's can hold there own against forgien hpb's but if you throw forgien lpb's into the mix were gonna get screwed.The lag on most of the severs the tgb's will be bad(look at the ukccl league)without having some dude with a 30 ping firing rockets at your ass.Sep on the other hand is just talking bollix as usual as I for one have never seen him on war or ffa(tho i heard he plays ctf(and we all know how popular ctf is with the Irish q2 scene)).So sep if your gonna add your bit,at least play the game the disscussion is going on about the way the people talking about the game play it.
