    Simply, as I have said I'm new to this stuff
    what IRC channel will I use - I have it on mindphuked eric information irc.iol.ie could anyone confirm.....

    Yeh.

    Get a copy of mIRC(www.mirc.co.uk) and connect to irc.iol.ie on the default port.

    Channel #Quake for Quake 1 in general and #Quake2 for Quake 2 in general.

    Also, #IrishQuake (I think) will be the official Help Channel for Quake and Quake2.

    Since my brother didnt know how the **** to 'connect' to servers, here it is even simpler.

    Get irc down, and load it up

    x the first pic page, enter you details (email name etc)
    Then click OK
    You should be able to type at the bottom.
    Type /server irc.iol.ie
    When its prompts you to join a channel, pick #quake.
    Ignore Daa, ste etc, on the channel, they are immature 14 yr olds who annoy new people, just ask someone with an @ before their name, they are ops. They'll help you.

    just in case you run into a problem or two,
    when you manage to connect to irc.iol.ie and cant figure where to go from there....

    first of you should be in the status page (it says it at the top of the page)
    ytpe in /join #quake or /join #quake2
    or type in /list and it will show you all actice channels. you just double click on one and hey presto. after that youre on your own coz you now know as much about irc as i do <IMG SRC="http://lacerta.ucg.ie/boards/smile.gif&quot; WIDTH=15 HEIGHT=15 BORDER=0 ALT=":)">
