The Saturday edition of the Irish Times reports that the Commission for Communications Regulation (ComReg) is suing cable firm Chorus to force it to pay 3.5 percent of its annual revenue to the regulator. According to the report, ComReg issued the legal proceedings on Friday following a protracted dispute with the two biggest Irish-based cable firms, Chorus and NTL. Chorus is refusing to pay the cable levy, saying it is "unfair" and "excessive." NTL, meanwhile, has expressed concerns to ComReg about the fee, although it is understood to be continuing to pay the 3.5 percent levy.

I think Chorus non payment of the fee is more to do with its financial situation which is dire.
    - losing subscribers
    - no investment as Indo are trying to sell it
    - not meeting performance criteria set by its lenders
    - no prospect of a buyer

laughable to hear them complaining about BBC FTA considering they cannot even supply a decent picture for BBC on their analogue cable
