Here,

Since most of cannot get over to France to actually watch it in person, whats the chances of getting a spectator proxie running so us back home can watch it and cheers yahs on?

We could hire out a hall or something on the day, stick up a big screen , get loadsa beers in and yell our heads off

Call it the Team.ie Spectator Bash if u will!

I dont suppose that the lan game can be transmitted then eh ?

MP, I would REALLY like to do this, but I dunno if it will be possible if it is on a lan.

What I hope to do anyway is that I will put up a demo and let someone d/l it. Then you could play it immediately after the game.
Since France is 1 hour ahead, and the game is 20 mins long you could watch it 40 mins before we start to play it. And then phone us with the French tactics. Or something.

If someone is willing to organise a ****up thing then I say kewl go for it. I'll hold back the scores and commentary until you guys have seen the demo, that way it will still have the suspense.

ya, thats a rocking idea MP.

DeV.

Yah Dev, It would really rok!

Love the idea about the times 'n tactics! heh!

Here, on a serious note, I know how to set this up, Ill talk to u about it on irc. In the mean time.

Can I see a vote of people who would go to a venue in Dublin to make this worthwhile. No bogus replies like the muppets who said they were going to the Belgard and didnt

neeeee
icq wouldnt work either adra, cos we are behind a fiyer-waul, on amd-k6-200 machines running winNT (mmmm 0.98 FPS..)
the only machine not firewalled that we can use is a p60 running linux that actually lags when you telnet to it because there are 2.34million people running email off it...
and we have 4 megs disk space on this absolute monster of a machine...nngh
we do have http proxy's tho..
anyone know of an irc client for winnt/95 that can use a web proxy thingy to connect outside a firewall?
we are in the process of getting admin on the nt machines... we think. so we CAN use installshield programs..we think.

Hi all,

For the LAN, we are trying to get the best in ternet connection possible, but I doubt we'll be able to broadcast live matches...

For the live discussion, there are heaps of chatrooms available through your usual browser. It's the only type of chat that goes through any kind of firewall that lets you surf on the net.

UMmmm

Dont like this at all. Im thinking of going to DCU next year and i'd rather not be firewalled. Is the situation really bad? Are the other colleges the same? If you are him and I am He are we all together?

ahhh ffs
DCU rocks!!!!!!
i went there for three years. had a marvalous time doin AP and got drunk loads of times.
besides, i also play for the hockey team (still) and me girlfriends doin AS.

ahhhwhat a place. mind you when i started we didnt have a bar. it wasnt frodos. there was no jets every thursday night. we had to make do with ravin in the ormonde hotel or going to pegg woofingtons, or club nassau as it was known back then.

the memory remains

White(god i hated being a student)wash

ps, if im not workin i'll go to the **** up. however, i would prefere to go to paris to see it live if anyone is organising a spectator trip

Hey Marie,

You know the clan 9 vs Death Row was on a lan . As far as I know, they set it up using a qizmo proxie on the inside of the lan connected to a proxie on the outside world. The observers from the outside world just simply connected to it and watched via that. I don't know exactly how, but I'll ask DC.Aerotek as he actually set it up. It may be faily simple to do and might not cause to much hastle

Eric.

i was gonna mention Aerotek, but couldnt remember a) which Aero it was and b) the name of your friday night / other night challenge thing, on which he did it!! was cool

Two possible venues so far is the Belgard or the Temple Bar Music Centre. I have one or two places in mind aswell. I'll keep my options open. We need a date tho asap so we can get this on the road.

wwwman : You go to Jets ? SAD Basdid. The dogs travel in pairs there!

Eric.

ahhh MP,

ive evolved. im no longer a student so i dont go near the place.
besides, its too far out and a taxi costs too much
its the harp bar for me now. get drunk, get stabbed, get an abracababra (where the food is magic, it re-appears about 2 hours later) and stumble home from casualty (more the food than the stabbing) at about 5 in the morning. thats when iim not dining out at in mcdonalds anyway

Eric - any truth in the tale that the Quake '98 Awards Presentations might be held on the same day??? I'd like to be there when I receive my Greatest Player on Earth award (or was that one of the questions?)

Also - we could maybe set a LAN up - QP2!!!

I know I'd be interested again!!!
