Irish Independent extract: 'The mark-ups that cost you 1000 euro a year' The article says that Publicans Increased their mark-up on drinks by 20Pc to 94.4Pc between 1997 and 2001. That would mean close to 100pc more we need to pay for our drinks. Is this caused by inflation and insurance ? Or are these guy's making loads…

That would mean close to 100pc more we need to pay for our drinks. Is this caused by inflation and insurance ? Or are these guy's making loads of money ? Or is this just an excuse to have us pay more ?

Do Publicans also face rough times or is it all smiley faces ?
I would like to understand why this is happening ?
