    erm...It's taken Brian (Muso) months to do that level!!!

    Anyway - the reason I choose it is because no-one answered my request for map's to play this weekend!!!

    Dav,

    I know how long it takes ppl to make maps, but
    1) it is stupid to pick a bran new map as next weeks one, because the IQCL is about the best teamplaying clan, not who can learn a new level fastest.
    2) You play Quake now and then, you aren't a serious war player, there aren't that many, and of those that do partake in the wars all the time, there aren't that many who would know enough about it to judge a map, but I'm telling you, and Jay and Beast agreed with me, that it is not a suitable map to play 4 v 4 wars for the pure and simple reasons I mentioned above, it will make a class FFA level, but it certainly doesn't warrant it being an official IQCL level, how many maps do you think were hopefuls for the UKCL? The others agree on a committee, so with Dev's say-so we will operate as one from now on, if there are no objections from anyone else?

    Z + J here lookin over the maps thoroughly.
    First of all, Dav, calm down and take a few chill pills, there are loads of maps can be made and designed without assigning an IQCL number to every Moe Larry and Curly map that someone throws up in a week.
    We don't think the maps should be IQCL because :
    1) It takes more than big corridors and big rooms to make a good war level.
    2) You need a central area if not two, to fight over and lock down or else the level becomes an FFA level like e4m3.
    3) A decent secret or two is necessary.
    4) We're stoned.

    No offence to the lads who made the levels, Muso said its a beta anyway, but as regards both levels in a war, all it takes is a few quad rockets to nuke the whole level, and the important areas in these levels are too big and open, and can be held by one camper in a strategic location. Basically, they are too open, and not interlinked enough, with no central location worth fighting over, e.g. Quad, 666.

    Slayer made some mental maps for UKCL.
    Looking at UKCLDM2, you have slime pit and YA, with everyone wanting the slime, Quad in an area very accessible from either YA or RA.
    Androm9 - two central locations interlinked, with Quad only a teleport away from each.
    E1M2 - u have to hold quad/gl/ya to win, and everyone is trying to take it back all the time.....small and fast, not big and open and slow.
    DM2 - two desirable areas with RL and armor at each.

    Before you run off and make a map, you have to sit and design it, as regards wars, rather than room corridor room crossroads room.
    Expect nDDM1 in about 3 weeks.

    Yeah exactly, I aint seen it yet, and I know how hard it is to make maps, but they have to be planned reeaal well for clan wars. The best is to come up with an original idea (like slime on uk2) and build from there.

    ...
    -A double DM4...one ontop of the other roughly.
    -One roughly like Doom1 level 1.
    -Turn E1m2 the other way round and add an LG.
    -DM5 without the rl door button and some more stuff.

    yah, the blueprints are already there, and you just build on...I think its better than just diving straight in. MGDUEL is the only good Irish map I've seen so far.

    Let's get things straight here folks. Deathknell is as Zero noticed a beta. I got the idea of trying to do a war level a while ago and Kharn has pointed out that it took me ages but that's only because I was doing a bit, going off and doing some more (lazy in other words). In fact the original level was ditched and I stated a new one which became Deathknell.
    I'm appreciative of feedback but what annoys me a bit is that I tried getting the basics of a war level from the "experts" when I began and I asked on the web site with little joy. In the end I tried to have the idea of two main areas, one being slightly more significant than the other plus a quad room. I agree that it's a little too big.
    Another thing is this basic idea of main room (rl & ra possibly), lesser main room (rl and ya possibly). The IQCL uses many maps and they don't all follow these desirable basics. All teams worth their salt make tactics for whatever level it is. UKCLDM2 is a great level and your love of it shows in your idea of a great war level. Others might dissagree.
    Finally I named the level Deathknell, NOT IQCLDM? expressly because I knew it was a long way from being satisfactory. I have also told Kharn I thought it would be a better idea to get a buzz going for Irish levels to be used nect time etc.
    This is the first level of mine that has received any major reaction from ye and that's mainly thanks to Kharn and Suds. So more of it please it's very helpful and with your guidance we'll have Irish Quake maps to be proud of. Thanks.

    Don't ever remember you askin on the board about levels. Don't take the comments as criticism on the level, I wish I could make one, but the reason I posted about it was Kharn rushing into playin it this weekend which is @rse, because you can't play a war on a level you don't know, it's just an FFA. And you can't put a level officially as an IQCL level unless its approved by a FEW ppl.

    I agree with MP on UKCLDM4, its big but its a class war level. Now that ppl have agreed on a committee, we're starting from now, so anyone who makes a map for IQCL send it to me and I'll pass it on to the others in the group.

    Yeah that's an idea, we hear so much about dm4 being converted for Q2, have any of the great Q2 teamplay maps been converted back for Quake 1?!?!

    thats right sep.
    i see you onm the q2 servers soooo much these days. and i know you know all the q2 levels backwards and forwards so you valued opinion that the rest are muck surprises me.
    most of the q1ers i see playin q2 these days, and there is quiet a few of them, seem to think they are good. a little big, but after the small dark levels in q2 thats not surprising.
    and please dont respond with 'well youre never playing q1', i have been seen playing CA but only after the muppets go to bed. i really hope you dont like q3 when it comes out coz then the rest of who will play it wont have to put up with your drivel. grow up

    quake 1ers, i feel so sorry for you. we dont have any muppets in q2. now i know your frustration
