Wondering if anyone has experience with either of these - or knows off-hand which is better [and why would be appriciated].

Personally would go for SMC one - which is also what anyone else spoke to said - think it may be due to it being black & curvey, damn sub-consciousness.

Anyway advise on which to choose be nice, thanks.
[also any idea on damage for dhl on this ?]

Interesting, I was faced with the same choice this morning, and plumped for the SMC one in the end, mainly because I used SMC kit before and always found it reliable, but I have no experience of the Corega stuff.

I bought 2 of them, DHL was about €12.00.

Corega are just the "consumer" brand for Allied Telesyn who make decent networking kit.
I've recently bought an AT 24-port switch off of bazooka on boards, he works for www.ict-pro.com
I'm very happy with it. Have bollok all experience of SMC products though.
The Corega stuff is exactly the same hardware as the AT "big brother" stuff, just priced cheaper and presumably in more asthetic casing.

Got my 2 SMC switches today - fair play to Komplett, less than 24 hours from Norway to Cork.

Anyway, I can confirm that they have a switch which allows one of the 16 ports to be used as an uplink port if required.

Very nice compact little unit. Plugging it into the network this evening, so will have to wait until then to see how performance is.

    ah cool,
thanks lot - be interested to hear opinions on performance/issues with them.
Not really required till end august/sept - so I can wait for bug reports :)

If all ok probably order before then - and plug my 4 pc's into it [somethin new and shiny ;D ]

Hiya...thanks for the glowing report syxpak...

Yes Corega is the litte brother of Allied Teleysn, and they make some seriously cheap "consumer" products...they are basically the same AT kit just rebranded and boxed nicely...

    eg: this switch

    http://www.alliedtelesyn.co.uk/product/FS724i

is the exact same (just looks differant) as this one

    http://www.coregainternational.com/default.asp?SCREEN=product&section=3&productID=11

and there is a differance of about 30% percent in the price...there is also some nice smaller switches, routers, and especially their wireless kit, i have installed it in a few places, and trust me it is much better than anyting i have used before...ie smc, d-link, buffalloo....

    thanks for info ...

bazooka ; since you said you've used both - and can compare between two - will take yer word for it - diff is bout 15 quid or something between corega/smc ... so will probably go for corega then [doom and wrath shall follow if your wrong :)]
