Using netsource , and am delighted with the service so far.

One thing though, the static ip while it has its uses can be a hinderance , expecially if your a frequent irc user..a never changing ip can become a bit of a liability.

Apart from irc, being able to surf the inet without bigbrother watching would be nice.

I havent figured out how to tell the dsl-504 to use an anon proxy (legit paid for service) .

Does anyone have any pointers on this?

you ever thought of using a web proxy?

    proxy.esatclear.ie

    iol proxy etc

    as far as i understand
the proxies IP address is forwarded onwards to site not your public Internet IP..

    more network address translation..

like the 504 does with any pcs sharing the wan connection

Though you should test out the proxy thing by connecting to a website whose logs you can check.

Some squid web proxy configs seem to stick a X-Forwarded-For into the http request header, meaning your anonymity is blown out of the water.

I'd suggest getting a shell account on a unix machine somewhere and using bitchx for irc.

Getting an anon proxy isnt the problem, telling the dsl-504 to use it is :(

Havent been able to tell it to identify itself anon yet :(

Sombody must know how how, inet via proxy is standard stuff, just cant figure it out with the dlink.

Do you mean a TCP (ie socks) proxy or a http one? Either way, you should be configuring that on the PC, not the router. It's technically perfectly possible that a router could forward all traffic in this manner, it just is a pretty obscure way of doing things. I certainly haven't seen this feature in any of the routers I've used.
