Just a quick question on a 3-day Split routine..........

what is the best combination , i.e.

    Day 1.

    Shoulders and Back?
    Shoulders and Triceps?
Shoulders and Legs, etc. etc. for Day 2 & 3.....

All working on the theory of doing two a day from the following, Shoulders, Back, Biceps, Triceps, Chest & Legs.
And doing Abs each day too.

or does it make a difference?

    B.

I'd go for a traditional 3 day split such as:

    Day 1: Chest, triceps, shoulders

    Day 2: Back, biceps, traps

    Day 3: legs

    .logic.

Generally I go on this split, though for the next 3 months arms are out as I needed to put a little more effort into work and couldn't make the gym on the 3rd day (so I just take abs alone at home)

    Day1: Shoulders/Back (upper|lower)

    Day2: Chest

    Day3: Arms/Abs

Legs are left alone to cardio - cycling/rowing/diving whatever.

Jak, abs only 1 day a week??? Is that enough?? I was always led to believe that you need to do them at the end of each session!!

    Day 1: Back/Biceps

    Day 2: Chest/Shoulder/Triceps

    Day 3: Legs/Aba

    Day 4: Off

    Start with Day 1 again...

Abs are just like any other muscle, over-training them (for instance by working them at the end of every session) will not produce results. Rest is required for muscle growth.
