Well regarding Ste's map - I love the layout but I have met some resistance to the idea of making the textures look proper. The boxes in Ste's map are an example of textures not properly aligned. So what many have cried. Well maybe I'm a perfectionist but when I think of how we play maps from all over the world I want people from all over the world to play OUR maps and it's a simple job to make a level look good as well as play good. So there's my thrupence.
Regarding the Irish Mappers Guild or whatever it's a good idea and I'm all for it so let's go but I want all people dabbling in map making to declare themselves and let's start helping each other out. My editing section on FOATW got all of two questions in it's lifetime and now it's at the pit it doesn't mean we shouldn't be having a dialogue about the subject. Also constant feedback is necessary.
My maps have traditionally been ignored apart from a few good people (Kharn, Suds etc.) but sod me as far as I'm concerned every Irish map should get a good seeing to from all Irish quakers. We want to make the maps you want so everyone can say that's an Irish map.
Finally on the subject of team.ie and all things committee like (shudder). I bow to Devore and his right to be manager of team.ie but for the future we need an association of sorts. A group that picks the manager and that person then picks the team - no arguements allowed.
It works for Sports of any kind all over the world. And most importantly it does not have to consist of the Great players - just the people who care. A crap quake player who gives a damn is worth a million Frag Gods who just play and nothing else.

Muso with all due respect what your saying about team.ie there is the greatest load of bullsh*t I've ever heard. Others have tried this national quake team stuff before but it always failed due to 1 very simple reason and that was the fact that we were always out-pinged. Devore organised this French trip and is digging into his own pocket for the best part of the expenses so I think he's entitled to do what he bloody well likes, he simply choose what he thought to be the best team of 4 players to bring with him. So you suggesting he take 4 muppets who can't play for sh*te but who "care" is an insult to Devore, you want to make a total f*ckin eejit out of him in France now?

Devore isn't saying this team is made up of the 4 best quakers in Ireland but he choose the 4 he reckoned would spark as a team based on his experience playing with these people.

Christ - do I speak english or Russian.
I was talking about the people who pick the manager if such a group was ever organised. It may be that it can't work but I WAS NOT saying the team should be people who care etc.
Please , IN ALL RESPECT, read the bloody post instead of ranting off in response to what you thought you wanted to believe I could possibly even begin to think of saying

roflmao.

sorry muso but I read your post and I was nodding sagely at the suggestions you make.
I love to see crossedwires though, they always make me giggle .
I'm sure Blade and Ol will apologise when they read the piece again!

In fact I am working on a piece grandoisely entitled "The Nature of Dictatotships!" atm.

I do agree with you 100% but the timing is important. First we get it running then we slide in the "carers" into the organisation. People like Vex, Von, Jay and others who have proven that they want to achieve something. It will always need a chairperson to drive it tho but I dunno if that is me... I have a tendency to start things and when they are humming, pass them on to caretakers...

More later, but I had to jump in to break up a row ... heheheh...
