    What's the story with getting quake for Unix? Will the Linux version work? And where do I get it? and is it any good?

    dunno if the linux version will work but ya might find a copy of QW thas for unix
    i think the basic quake install is the same u just use QW or sumthin

    OK well this might be good news but there's no such thing as "Linux quake". it's windows quake "ported" to Linux. Wot u need to do is get quake and get the resource.1 file I think and put it into /usr/games/quake
    then type lha e resource.1
    after that's done u need to get the program that ports quake to Linux. I use squake but there are two other versions on www.linuxquake.com After this just download the libs for quakeworld and off u go. If u have any problems mail me @ phiber@protean.net since I mighn't be looking at this board all the time. I have successfully got Linux quake working and QW so it can/does work

    Thanks for the info

    (I did realise that it was windows quake ported over - I'm doing something similar at the mo)
