    Hi,

I live in Belgium, and was thinking of buying a cheapo multi-region DVD player from Amazon. I know that TVs from Ireland won't work on the continent and vice versa, since the PAL versions used are different.

Is the same true with SCART outputs, or can I use an Irish DVD player with my Belgian TV?

    Thanks,
    Paul

the difference in the PAL system is the sound only, which means the sound is modulated on a different frequency.
If you are going to use the DVD with a Reveiver (connect the sound through a digital output) then it will work just fine.

If your TV is multi-system then it should work anywhere with any system.

There are ways to work around it like connect it through a local VCR or of cource connect the Audio directly to the TV (in case you don't have a Receiver) with an RCA cable.

If you connect the DVD to the TV using RGB or Component via the SCART cable then again it doesn't matter.

You are going to be fine.
