I recently obtained a hard drive cradle/external enclosure and I was just wondering could I actually boot from the HD located within through the USB port it's connected through???

Doubt it, out of memory ya cant specify to boot from a USB port.

well ya can, that is if your mobo supports it. my mobo allows booting from usb devices, but personally I wouldn't use it running an os off of. It comes in handy if you want to create a boot disk or something similar on a pen drive etc.... there might be limitations in using a hard drive booting from the usb drive, depends on the read/write speed you'd be getting from the usb. Conslut your mobo manual.
p.s. it doesn't hurt to try bootin from the usb as a test :)
