I did a poll thread on this subject last year -

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=75005&highlight=search+engine

the result was overwhelming then maybe the balance of power
    has shifted....

I much prefer Google Bar 2
Has pop up blocking in it now, but still a bit buggy.
Aswell as that with both google bars if you click the little blue i you can translate to english aswell.

My vote definetly goes to google too.

I think the main reason that google has done so well is because of the simple banner free look, and its so damm quick, espically if you are on a dial-up.

    Long live Google!!

Haven't been back to Altavista in a long time. 5 years ago it used to be the best by far. That was until Google came along, and like everyone else I've been using it ever since.

But the new Altavista looks good and it has some nice features, including search result categorisation.

to tell you the truth when I'm searching for something I always try the two of them. Becuase google finds a lot of crap sites aswell as good in its top 10 but altavista the majority of the time has top sites in its top 10.
