Disable Onboard Memory, Thinkpad 600E

    hey folks, I have a 600e with faulty 32mb onboard memory. Anyone know of a way to disable it?

    You mean how to take out the RAM? Theres an unscrewable panel on the underside of the Laptop, think it's on the left side when u turn it over. Take that panel off and you can take out the RAM chip easily.

    no, i mean the 32mb of memory thats soldered onto the board.

    They have that and a 32mb SODIMM, the ram on the board is shagged.

    I use an IBM Thinkpad T22 and in the BIOS an option is given to turn off onboard memory.

    Take a look at yours, might be similar:)

    nah, the 600E has the older GUI type of bios, might just rip the chips off!

    You can indeed disable the onboard RAM in a 600E. It's an option in BIOS. I have about 20 or so of those PCs floating about in here. Slow, but a solid PC none the less.
