This thing explor.exe (not explore.exe) running in the background is slowing my internet connection if I leave it running and it slows windows and I cannot shut down windows (2000 pro) if its running.

    explor.gif

    Thats the offending character above.

    I cannot delete this file.

    What can I do?

    Please help me.

Popping explor.exe into google threw up a heap of virus warnings. Have you got anti virus software (up to date)?

    Try this-

    Start - Run
    msconfig

then go to the Startup tab

you should be able to stop the explor program by unticking it

Run this online scan and see if it detects it.
