I've had enuf, between one thing or another I'm quitting Quake 2, it's been fun but with players upgrading to ISDN's there's not much point in competing against it, and with indigo gone to pot it is just getting beyond a joke trying to play. Have just lost interest in the whole thing anyway and it will at least cut the phone bill in half.

Guess I'll be getting Quake III when it comes out so until then no more

sorry to see you go. indigo is fine for me during the week, i think perhaps it isn't indigo thats the problem as they seem fine to the irish servers.

Sorry to see yea go Tin, although I cannt say I'm surprised one bit cos as a whole Q2 in Ireland is dead. The only thing keeping it going was the UKCCL and with that now unplayable for probably over half the players , its a total loss. What ever happened to all the leagues that were going to start, or has everyone just jumped ship to Tribes and/or Ultima etc.

Maybe it would be an idea to kill off a few of the Q2 servers, and give more resources to tribes?

Never a truer word said - there are too many quake and quake 2 servers. Reality is folks is that ppl are board of the two games.

But we cant half fill our current tribes servaer at the minute (but what of when the game is released to the minions here ???) but another server for organised matches could be a good idea - and for the time being we could use one for D&D and one for CTF or whatever and BTW loose that stupid sandy level - I havent met someone who likes it.

Q2 - CTF seems to have died, as tribes CTF is better, drop Q2 CTF

other than that the Q2 servers are filling up again, many fun games were had over the weekend.

1 tribes server is enough, it's hardly overflowing now is it?

yeah nog its no modem activity like its as if i'm gonna disconnect and then it reconnects kinda thing, am using 604 7000 or something whatever that number is, but having said that i'm not coming back even if i do get a steady connection, have already deleted my q2 directory, reclaimed 1.2gig of h/d space, have to use that for college **** anyway.

Nog - yeah the current server isn't under great pressure at the moment, however I would like to see another server up.. more on this over in the Tribes forum.

While there may have been an element of sh1t stirring ( when am I ever not ), I am interested in what online games are actually played here in Ireland.
I also would like to see a half-life server, or even a unreal server. What of freespace anyone play that ? What of Heretic II. You see since I'm over here I'm spoiled for choice, but theres no reason it shouldn't be the same in ireland. A lot of the servers are empty a lot of the time, Duel, ctf for example. We have the ign lads, suds, & indigo all offering servers, surely a bit varity is possible in the selection offered.

I've played a lot of lan HL, but online it's never compared to Q2 imho. Perhaps with an Irish server things would be different..

OK sin is alright but compared to halflife its cack, Also, I dont think you need to have a copy of halflife to run a server. Theirs a large download on barrysworld that claims to run a server on the internet without a cd.
I was playing halflife there lastnight with max and daire, the more I play it the more I like it. We have to wait till after 1am to get a decent connection tho to BW.
I dunno whats all this fuss about lag issues with halflife, its networking is similar to quake's now with the new patch. It goes without saying you need a good 3d card like a voodoo2 or TNT to run it properly.

I think the halflife lag is a bit of a non-issue now with the patch's, the only lag I've ever suffered when playing it is the fact that the servers where all either in the states or the UK. I'd love to see a halflife server when I got back, not that I'd be playing it, since I've been sucked back into that ultima hole again. Stay away from it people, its to late for me, dont send anyone.
