a friend of mine has decided to become a hairdresser and she's trying to figure out if its better to start as an apprentice in a salon now or to go and do a course such as the robert chambers course and then go on to a salon.
she's on a months trial apprenticeship at the moment in Peter Mark with a view to stay on for the 3 yrs and complete it and people in the salon with her say this is the best way to go about it and that if she does a course, she'll end up doing a regular apprenticeship after anyway.
Is it a case of a solid qualification will look better for you regardless of what you've been doing or is the experience all that matters in this type of job?

does anyone know anything about this or anyone who would and what looks like the best option, she knows the course will cost a small fortune to do but she is willing to pay for it if it means she is getting a better start at this.
