Hey guys i was just wondering what you think of this

D-Link DSL-604 Plus Wireless ADSL Router

I take it will be grand for netsource... Coz hopefully i'll be getting it soon.

I dont really need the Wireless part got regular network cards at home.


Any suggestions/ feedback is much appreciated!!!

I have that router. Its class besides the fact I can't get it to connect to IOL

if you don't plan to use wireless, may be you should consider getting cheaper 504? I went with 604+ because of wireless, but now found out that it's impossible to turn wireless off...

BOrg see we will be using wifi cards later but to get up and running first we are gonna use Network Cards..

I take it has a built in modem as well so i dont need to buy one separarte???

yes it does have an internal modem. so you connect it to the phone jack and the ethernet / wifi it will make the local network with DHCP/NAT/Firewall (which is very very nice). And no, you don't have to buy separate modem.

I couldn't disable wireless. But then again, I wasn't looking really hard. Ppl on nets say you better install new firmware - it sorts out few security problems. ftp://d-link.co.uk

One thing I've found in the new firmware: combobox with sign Tx Power and values 1/4,1/2/1. I take it's the power of output radio signal (so I've set it to the lowest value). Anyway modem was in the closet till now. CAUSE I'VE JUST GOT MY CONN PACKAGE from Netsource! And if it all goes well I'll find out much more about modem and ADSL in general over the bank holiday weekend.
