    any1 know where this is stored on a windows 2k/xp installation

    my thinking would be ntldr

    But in XP or 2K in the i386 folder there is the winnt32 setup file
    run winnt32 /cmdcons to get command console and options.

    alternatively do a search on the HDD for files containing the text...

    or format a boot disk and put ntldr ntdetect.com and a boot.ini on it - boot up from a non NT/2K/XP pc and see how far you get ..
