Clearing memory

I'm getting rid of mu old pc, giving it away actually, but i want to clear off all my files, word docs pics etc, whats the best way of clearing the slate and just keeping the installed software?

I think doing it manually is one of the easiest unless they are all over the place. Just use find and search for *.doc and weed out what you dpn't want, and do the same for other files.
