Like daithi1 there alluded to , just because we aren't vigilant over pricing does that mean that it should be open season to rip off consumers? If a pub charges you e6 for a pint of Guinness should you just sit there grumbling about it to yourself whilst the landlord laugh all the way to the banks?

Well, if i was charged thgat much, i'd be sure not to buy too many, i wouldn't ask for a tab and check it once a month, and buy rounds for the whole family. He knew how much it was if he went over, and he proceeded to not just go over, but SMASH it by over 700% If he gets away with it scot free, Eircom are run even worse than i assumed

Look you could spend 434 hours a month surfing the net & reading emails or 434 hours a month downloading (for the sake of arguement) legal mp3s and software. For some people with very minimal knowledge of the net it doesn't equate to the difference between 60megs and 60GIGS and that's all I was trying to highlight with that divx point.

no i would read the T&C and look at the big number 10 gig and make sure the little number doesnt go over it by 725%
    [/B]
Clearly you would but Jim was making it seem like he'd never heard there was even such a thing as billing page until today or whatever. But the recently emerged fact that the guy has been on this service for five months now and doesn't want to accept that he deserves an e1800 bill this month means that even I've given up defending him too.

Regardless I still think it would be a reasonable feature for Eircom to automatically warn people once they had reached 10gigs. Then if they decided to still use it past that point they could have absolutely no complaints when the bill came.

It doesn't matter if she was talking to her folks, downloading porn or saving starving children by downloading crap, they still went over the download allowance.
It says all over the place, in both Eircom's and IOL's case, that they reserve the right to charge blah blah if you go over whatever your limit is.
People saying tough luck to him doesn't make them morons, just realistic.

If you Do go to court Jim you will be absolutly ass-raped and probably made foot the bill for thier legal staff.
If i were in your position id pay it this time and watch how much bandwidth you use any more regardless of what ISP you use

If the contract was for the uncapped service then you wouldnt be getting an 1800 pound bill then would you, you said in an earlier post that you were trying to get eircom to put you on the uncapped service for a few months

You clearly thought you could get away with using the capped service in the meantime, unfortunately you got caught so now you have to pay the piper

This thread should now be locked as its going nowwhere, the mans got a bill to pay, he either pays it or goes to court and tries and fight it, which hell lose cause he abused the service.

    Regards
    SHin

if you're paying for the uncapped service but just getting the capped service, then you should not pay them, but if you're paying for the capped service then you're gonna have to pay.

am I making any sense here?

wow.......72GB......bigger then all my hard drives put together
