feckin DSL-604+ is still not working.

Rang Esat - got the "modem not supported" story.

Any other modem settings required to make it work besides:

    vpi
    vci,
    username,
    password,
    confirm password,
authentication - everyone agree this is CHAP?
    idle time,

What about NAT Configuration and any other required settings I might not know about.

    Cheers in advance.

If there's an option for multiplexing or similar, try LLC based.
What errors are you getting? Can the router ping out etc.?

    yeah, using PPPoE LLC.

getting a "PPPoE server not found" error although:

    1) the ADSL LED is a steady green light
    2) The Line Condition & Line Setting sections state that the ADSL line is connected
    3) The even log is giving me a "PPP authentication fail" message. Using CHAP that is. Tried PAP, but the router keeps trying to use CHAP.

Check all the settings with yer man in IOL Tech Support. Seemed fine.

Are you typing the username/password properly?
    Did IOL test it?

    yeah

the username and password are fine. they are the same ones that my modem are using.

The fella said that there was no way of testing it. Thats what I wanted, to see what information my modem is sending to their server.

check you have the right driver's installed
    d-link give's you 2 pppoE drivers and 1 pppoa
if it is the same install as mine you need to install the last PPPoE, driver, in the drop down box. it's the one that dosn't display that it's llc based, but it is.
    try that
