Guys, why most everything on the forum become about sex, its like your all fruedians.

Love is great, relationships can be great, the thing is you have to take good or bad and not take points, or make it a competition. Just be good to your partner, be there for them, care for them and be faithful. (another worring CTYI trend). And it will all work out.

    Hi everyone, Newbie here.

    Right, where do I start?

Relationships are fun, however too many people tend to get into the mindset where only a relationship can make them feel good, which is bull****, tbh, if you can't be happy when you are single and alone with yourself then you won't be happy in a relationship which goes long term, you have to like yourself first. m'kay?

As for CTYI relationships? Well I was going out with someone at CTYI and we broke up a few times at CTYI and got back together, etc, and we ended up going out for about a year and 4 months.

*shrug* I figure that if you're going to get into a relationship then it'll happen in it's own good time, too many bad stories of my own have left me a little bitter and cynical :)

That's a pretty good message *points above*

If u are low in self esteem having a boyfriend worship you will only mame u not respect him for one and secondly not belive him. And if he isn't the type to tell u how brilliant you are then u'll feel as lowas you would if u were single.

So tis better as my mum says to love urself first before u try and love anyone else. :-)

I Love me lots really!! :-p

Hmm... when i see things in this light, I realise I'm a tad uncommital myself. Longest I've been in a relationship... 3 days. But who cares. I enjoy life, and that's all that matters.

    I HATE RELATIONSHIPS.

forgive the pessimism. i'm slightly annoyed and crestfallen at the moment. not the right time to be talkin about relationships. :(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 91 ✭✭taby

My sister once gave me some rather good advice.

U can't hate something. Its too strong an emotion. It alos eats you up inside and so tis better just to dislike something.

Relationships are hard and sometimes people break your heart and leave you thinking all relationships are crappy and that all couples should be burned at stake..been there, hated couples and have gotten over it.

If people are happy let them be happy. If ur single and happy Good on ya and if ur in couple and happy good on ya and if ur bitter and crazed and looking to burn sum couples at stake eh plz don't burn me eh? :-p

I'm propably sounding sappy and old and stuff.

Just try and be happy people. That's all u can wish for in life.

Tho sum moeny wud be nice too :-p

relationships are good but sometimes its just good being single and nejoying urself. don't look for a relationship. let it find u.

I went to sum1 who i ddin't kno very well bday party just by chance cos i was bored and he's now my boyfriend and we're still together 6 months later.

So just relax and enjoy ur life.

This may be a bit off topic, but hey, I'm just that Sleazy (as this post will no doubt reveal).

Now in Session 2, Psychology had the option of performing an experiment. Naturally, myself and my research partner noted that the area of interpersonal relationships is one of the most interesting aspects of psychology and so designed a project nicknamed 'Temptation Island CTYI' by the student body.

Odds are I'm going to be a Fox Producer some point in my sleazy, cheesy existance, so I must point out that our project was a marked departure from Temptation Island in that no singles would be involved. We would take ten couples (volunteers, of course) and then shuffle around the partners randomly. Each partner would be matched to another randomly chosen person and they would be made to spend one day (preferably Saturday) together. We would then see how many wished to return to their original partners the following day and how the experience influenced their relationship. It actually did have a scientific basis (it examined the Social Equity Theory of Relationships).

Naturally, it was shot down before Colm even heard of it. I just want to get some opinions on the subject of relationships at CTYI. Are they really that stable? What do you think about the experiment as a whole? Evil, sadistic or actually scientifically valid?Furthermore, if I turned it into a show on Sky One, would you tune in regularly to watch it?

(ok, this is even further OT- forgive me?-but...)
that is so funny. About the psych project, that is. What was Sarah's reaction?!?! (I was in psych session 1) Too bad that it was shot down, it actually would have been really interesting to carry it out in ctyi, especially let's say in the beginning of the session and the end and compare results, and then carry it out in the same age group in the "real world" (god, there'd be so many variables, it would be disastrous) but dear god it would be amusing. i mean, except for people's feelings and all . . .

I think that Sleazus' experiment would have been great. It had great psychological value, but you could have also used it to BREAK PEOPLE UP! Mwahahahaha. Sorry, I'm going through an anti-couples phase. You know the sort "I'm not in a relationship so I'm going to HATE COUPLES!".

The experiment and the program they were based upon are just more signs of the corruption spreading through socity, what will be next. HApply Married Couples Tempation Island? A quick death to all those who would pollute our air waves which such TV. Death to all "reality" tv. Burn the archieves, lynch the excuities. Bomb E4's head office. Sell the rights of the excutions to FOX.

"Wait what was that last one...Burn...lynch....bomb... sell...SELL, who wrote this? What do you mean I wrote this, its a rant about this kind of nonesence, why would I inclued it. Yes maybe do it on the sly, but lets not advertise the fact, what you mean the microphone is still on?...."

    Anyway...

Sleazus, was your project partner Binne by any chance? Cos i remember her saying something about that to me.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 437 ✭✭Sleazus

No, my partner was Conor McGee. And if I recall correctly, Sarah's response was "How about... no?" Apparently, we have deal with things called ethics. Though it's perfectly fine for some psychiatrist (Skinner) to lock his son in a box for the majority of his life.

Damn ethics, hate them so much.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 849 ✭✭✭Liquorice

Yeah, Aoife and I were thinking of doing a project on group hysteria, we were going to get people to miss class and get others to send rumours of disappearances around CTYI. But of course it wasn't ethical. At all. So we did the bystander effect. Excuse the off-topicness.
