Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Well did anyone see this coming?

I really liked this circuit, it always brought back memories of Alesi's first/only win in the Ferrari. Cant see them doing a Spa on it though.

Didn't see it coming at all was't familiar with there advertising laws its a pity i remember that huge crash there on the first corner it must have been about 5-6 years ago

am i right in thinking that crash involved a prost doing a somersault? but its to make way for spa, which, IMO, is a better race track! speaking of spa, belgium 99 was it? woo!

yeah there was a flipped car not sure who it was though, yeah i'm happy with the return of spa also but they should have got rid of another track then canada to bring it back

Yeah, that was a bit of a shock.

They should've dumped Hungary or Silverstone (nothing to do with the current furore about silverstone, I just don't like it as a circuit).

i'd definetly agree with hungary or perhaps imola or the nurburgring theres no reason for a country to have to grand prix's there just greedy :)

Looks as if Canada might be staying on the calendar for next year
Bernie has said "I've no idea where this story came from - the calendar for 2004 has not been put out yet or even considered,"

Perhaps he still wants to get rid of silverstone instead?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,483 ✭✭✭Töpher

there's no 'perhaps' in him wanting to get rid of silverstone! :)

British government seems to be coming up with the funds though in an article i read in a local newspaper this morning.

Bernie has finally confirmed that the Canadian Grand Prix will be not be on the F1 calendar in 2004.

He has admitted the reason is because of the total prohibition on tobacco-related sponsorship.

It's a pity that Canada has been dropped while there are still 2 races being ran in Germany and Brazil is still on the calendar. Brazil should go, it's a woeful track!!

China is pencilled in as the last race of the 04 season with Japan as the penultimate race.

China should be great i like the late night early morning races, just sorry it had to be at the expense of canada, it will be weird japan not being the last race of the season though, it has been for a while has it not?

on another note my tickets for monza arrived the other day happy days :) pity there for the incorrect stand though hopefully i can sort it out.

    Canada was a great track.
Nothing more satisfying than watching looser after looser limping from their cars on *that* corner (its name eludes me atm)
Or the time-honoured tradition of watching Villeneuve throwing tantrums every time his engine claps out. <sniffle>

or the nurburgring theres no reason for a country to have to grand prix's there just greedy

'Cos they ah Gehrman! </bavarian tuba music>
I suppose they invented the automobile, and, with the Italians, done more for motorsport in its early days, 'spose it's only fair.
Consider Mercedes- that's a company spanning 3 centuries.
Plus it's money- thousands of drunken "yea vee love Michael Schumacher!" sorts- thousands of the bastards.

There are a lot of boering tracks thatI could mention- but Canada certainly isn't one of them. Silverstone- yes it's very boering, how truely english it is. Yaaawn.

Just goes to show that F1 isn't even a sport anymore, it's nothing more than a loophole for dirty fag companies to advertise their drug! What next? ban williams because they don't have tobacco advertising on their car? They should do what they did with the snooker over here, have the no smoking campaign from all countries involved to sponsor the teams, It'd be cool to see a picture of a cancer ridden lung on the side of a ferarri!

    Well,

They are trying to make way for some new circuits [Bahrain for example. Unofficially set for April 4th and i will be there :) ].

Canada is a good enough circuit but they are slowly droppign the ones that give trouble to cigarette advertisers in favour of those who support ciggie advertising [Middle East, Aisa and the like]

Doesnt bother me too much. :)

At the end of the day new circuits are good i always look forward to a race at a new circuit, its the principals they drop the previous circuit on that bothers me. They should drop circuits because there crap, yield bad races, safety etc. advertising shouldn't be the reason
