    Just a reminder....

    If you have a medium or long haired animal, please please, do not forget in this heat to cut his / her hair short. It grows back quickly and will cool them down SO much.

    A regular cool bath also does wonders, and do NOT forget, access to fresh cool water at ALL times, and if the animal is outside, a shaded area is VITAL.


    Many animals all over the country have died suddenly this summer from unexpected heatstroke. Make sure yours isnt one of them!

    We weighted down sheets of bright white paper on roof of guinea pig hutch to reflect of the heat.

    Also check water levels more often.

    And part covered the mesh on top of the open run to give shade too.

    The two week old "pups" are leaping about like mad things, popcorning etc despite heat. The adult "pigs" do a lot more lazing around though.

    hear hear,
    we know how to cool ourselves down but those poor things need to rely on us to look after them.
