Not to bitch, but is the giveamanakick album not called "is it ok to be loud, Jesus" ? Anyway yes it rules.

Hmmm lack of funds has meant scarily few new albums have been bought by lamda this year.... so I can only offer a couple..
Radiohead - Hail To The Thief
Hot Hot Heat - Make Up The Breakdown
Interpol - Turn On the Bright Lights ( was that this year?)

Eh cant think of any more.. how pathetic:confused:

The Mars Volta - De-Loused In The Comatorium

    The Frames - Set List

    Interpols release was last year.

    I'd go with:

M83 - Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts... absolutely amazing album, and one I'll still be going "whoa" with in a couple of years time.

Logh - Everytime a Bell Rings An Angel Gets Its Wings

    Deerhoof - Apple O

    Four Tet - Rounds

and I'd echo Ulrich Schnauss' latest release.. good call Engulfophobia (missed him on Friday night!! arghh!!)

I stand corrected, was racking brain trying to think of new albums...forgot it had a name.

Was gonna say Berkeley (of course) but thought it came out last year...seems like its been out ages.

'Follow through' is getting annoyingly addictive.

Hail to the Thief also....if its given a chance to get into your head..and seeing them twice already helps.

Dreg, ill send you those pics of the band if you got space in your mail. let me know

    R

Hot Hot Heat - make up the breakdown
The Cure - Trilogy live in berlin DVD

Ha! How can you say that, and acknowledge Supergrass as creating one of the albums of the year? If anyone's past their sell by date, it's them..........their mind-numbingly boring retro indie ****e belongs in the brit pop summer of 95 with cast, blur and the rest of that other crap....

I got the Fischerspooner album in march (I think they re-released it in february with a bonus cd and an additional booklet), so i suppose it constitutes being released this year :p

I'd go with the66electric's "I died in a Movie", even though it's an EP, it definitely deserves a mention!
    Also,
Future Kings Of Spain's debut. (What an album!!)
    Turn: "Forward"
    Fairuza's mini-album: "Beautiful"
Berkeley: "Hope, Prayers and Bubblegum", but I'm pretty sure that was last year.

The Berkeley album appeared on the Supremo Recordings website late last year but it was officially released on February 19th of this year.
Aquiesce: Yeah will you send me those pics. Dunno what happened last time. Cheers.

Future Kings of Spain - Nothing short of excellent.

Berkeley - Hope, Prayers... (although it sounds like it was recorded up Albini's ass)

Radiohead - Hail to the Thief (for the last 3 songs)

Turn - Forward (great but ruined by the fact I'd heard every song 6-billion times before it came out)

Interpol - Turn on... (I know it was last year but I only really heard about them this year and it has to be mentioned)

High percentage of Irish acts in everyones lists - which is good no?

Supergrass are simply great songwriters, uncomparable to Cast, and other britpop drivel of the 90's. They are quite obviously influenced by late 70's punk/80's new wave, and that's why they're good...one song on that new album could have been lifted straight from the Stranglers back catalogue and another from the jam. I do like Placebo, they were stunning in the Olympia a few years ago promoting "wiithout you i'n nothing" but I just feel they have offered nothing interesting since that album...his pervy schoolboy lyrics are becoming laughable

Oh and how could I forget ...the best album of 2003 so far has to be GOLDFRAPP - BLACK CHERRY, simply superb.

Future Kings of Spain - WOW!
Shack - Here's Tom With the Weather
    Four Tet - Rounds
Brendon Benson - LaPalco (ok so it's last year but what an album)
Hot Hot Heat - Make Up The Breakdown
    The Roots - Phrenology

hail to the thief...just to be different!

it's too early in the year for me to be thinking properly about best albums,
and it's too late in the day for me to bothered thinking much about it, so...

    Hail to the Thief. Definitely.
    Turin Brakes - Ether Song
Mars Volta - De-Loused in the Comatorium
Goldfrapp - Black Cherry (even though I havn't bought my own copy yet!)
    Air/Baricco - City Reading
Royksopp - Melody AM (was that this year or last year?)

thats all you're getting without paying another 2 Euro.
